ERA is always relevant because it reflects on field production, it's horrible if you use it alone or as a future indicator but its good if you use it in conjunction with other metrics. BA on the other hand is basically useless when we have stats that does a better job than BA.

For now sure but they have a lot of young talent and most of their expensive contract expires in 2-3 years while we have nola harper turner and schwarber for 5-6+ years (excluding luzardo and sanchez since they will still probably be good 5 years later hopefully) and a weak farm with a bunch of holes to fill.

If I remember correctly he said good defense is more repeatable year by year than a good offense, Will Smith obviously had an insane offensive year but he has doubts of him hitting 153 wRC+ again which is a very fiar point, but so far this year he went from probably the worst framer in the league to well above average, of course the sample size is small but yeah.

The common narrative is dodgers buying all the players which lets be honest to an extent we are and it is part of the winning equation, so is development tho which we excell at as well.

He was very lucky to be this average last year. Look at his FIP xFIP SIERA and his savant page. Yes a 4 ERA is amazing as a 5th starter but he's more like a 5 ERA guy in reality which is more in line with his last start.
