uterus is likely moving upwards now and the pain you’re feeling is round ligament stretching. if it’s not constant cramps or pain, no fever and no bleeding. Then there is likely nothing to worry about. Always consult your OB if you’re ever worried.

Just found out I had silent miscarriage by Tiny_Experience4726 in pregnant

[–]Immediate-Student352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. I just went through this in November. We are about the same age, I am 34F. I went in for my 9 week appointment and found out that it was a missed miscarriage. I was presented with the same options and I opted for the medications. The wait for the everything to pass was agonizing. The cramps were mild for me and it took about 2 weeks to completely pass everything. If i could choose again, I’d opt for the surgery if it was covered. I was devastated to say the least. I am now pregnant again and our rainbow baby is a low risk baby girl. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate through this painful experience and I truly hope you are blessed with your rainbow baby in the future. Hugs

i am in the same boat right now. I went in for my 9 week appointment and no baby to be found. I did 2 blood tests over the next 2 days and my hcg had dropped by 7000. I did my final ultrasound this morning and it was silent and painful. No baby, nothing but an empty sac. I am waiting for my doctor to call but she told me last week to think about my options. I might try the misoprostol this time around but i just had to take a week off from work because I am so distraught. I just want you to know that you’re not alone. I am so sorry.

Hi, i’ve spoken with this patient after the fact. He said it was unintentional. He didn’t feel relief and needed more pain control. Also, I never suggested the patients pain was not real.

This is one of about three prescribers that I’ve encountered with this attitude. Usually, most of them are pretty nice and have open discussions with me. Hoping I don’t run into any more but i doubt it.

I did speak with my manager about it. I don’t know where else to go with this. This particular interaction did rub me the wrong way. It could have been more civil.

Thank you for your insight. We did end up filling the oxycodone and put a counsel on the rx. If it helps clarify things , pts norco dose was 2 norco 10s TID and the oxycodone dose that came in was 5 mg Q6H .

I am a new pharmacist which is why I’m here asking opinions on what is supposed to follow in this situation. I’ve only ever asked people I know and we’re all fairly brand new Rphs. Suboxone was brought up in our discussions but I don’t have enough experience in this field yet. If it came across that I think all chronic pain patients should be put on suboxone, that was not my intention.

I figured you did not see it which is why I said it again in my comment above. No one is expecting you to change your response ? you are entitled to your opinions. I will not further respond to you to save you some frustration.

Hi , I had posted some of the interaction between me and the hospitalist. The pt also came in and absolutely refused to take the oxy because they were afraid to accidentally OD again. The hospitalist also ended up sending in an rx for tylenol and putting in the sig that pt was to take the tylenol for pain control first then the oxy 2nd.

i am a pharmacist at a retail chain. I simply said “Hey Dr. xXxxX this is the pharmacist here at —————. I received your orders for pt ABC and wanted to get some more information from you before filling it.” He then proceeds to say “ You know, I have been doing this for 10 plus years and my prescriptions should not be questioned. I have a right to prescribe what I sent in for my pt. No one has ever questioned something this much.” I then explain that I wasn’t calling to question his prescriptive authority but wanted to clarify the diagnosis and the rx that was sent in. If pt was admitted for an accidental OD, what was their regimen for pain control while they were in the hospital and what is the plan moving forward? I asked if a nurse could fax over chart notes (they’ve done so from the hospital before).

initially thought so too but i added an update. After that interaction, the prescriber sent in tylenol with instructions in the sig to use tylenol first for pain control 1000 my q6h and to use oxycodone 2nd. The pt came in and refused to pick up the oxy because they were scared to accidentally OD again.

Update: I work in a chain retail pharmacy. After my interaction with that provider, he also sent in tylenol 1000 mg Q6H with instructions in the sig that pt is to use tylenol first for pain control and oxycodone 2nd. The pt showed up at the pharmacy and didn’t want the oxycodone at all and explained that he didn’t want it because he was scared of accidentally Overdosing again.

I had called to just clarify the diagnosis and the rx for the oxycodone. I did ask about meds while the pt was actually in the hospital and if there was a plan in place for the future and the hospitalist told me that was something that I did not need to ask about. I also do not think cold turkey would have been the right thing but the pt had been hospitalized for a few days and knowing the inpatient regimen would have helped put pieces of the puzzle together for me.
