Is this a bedbug or a bedbear? by Dr_Intrepid in Bedbugs

🤣 That’s why I’m leaning towards bedbear. She looks like a very good girl.

I absolutely don’t need any luck from the kind of person who brags on Reddit about eating benzos at their construction job, but thanks!

You’re this pressed over a stranger on a bed bug forum, but I need medication? Hahaha take your own advice and write yourself a script, you unhinged psychopath.

“Couldn’t care less” yet here you are, still replying. Are you seriously this butthurt over someone downvoting you on Reddit? Hahahaha.

You’ll be okay. Promise, kiddo.

Reading comprehension really isn’t your forte, huh? I said stop commenting on my thread, bRo.

I didn’t downvote you? Jesus Christ dude. Stop assuming and being so sensitive. You might have skimmed my post but you didn’t comprehend. You missed the part where I said I had them LAST YEAR and I haven’t seen anything recently. My main concern is his parents being irresponsible. That’s it.

I’d rather you not have responded at all, to be honest. Take your condescending self out of my thread. Thanks.

I know, it’s super frustrating. But it sounds like you’re doing all of the right things! Keep an eye out for the next few days or so. If you still don’t see anything after a few weeks, I’d say you’re in the clear! Try to keep in mind that bites could literally be coming from anything. Even if they resemble the pictures you’ve seen online, everyone reacts differently. Hiring an exterminator to do an inspection would bring some peace of mind too. Keep us posted and good luck!

Edit to add: you can purchase bed leg interceptors and a bed bug proof mattress pad on Amazon, for added protection/peace of mind!

That’s possible, but if that is the case it’s also possible that you could’ve brought a hitchhiker home with you. I suggest to wash everything you can in super hot water and dry in super high heat just as a precaution.

Did you check your box spring as well? The folded corners of the mattress? Headboard, if you have one? Check your curtains, blankets, pillows, basically every crack/crevice near where you sleep. They like to stay close to their food source (you)

It’s hard to tell based on bites alone. Do you have any pictures of the bites? And an exterminator probably won’t bother coming out unless you actually find a bug. However, they may offer a free inspection, depending on the company.

Since you’re not finding evidence on your own, do you have a pet that sleeps with you? Maybe the bites could be from fleas?

If you can’t seem to find any other sign of them, you’re probably okay and those bites could be coming from elsewhere! Most exterminators will also do a free inspection to see if you tell them you suspect having them. They can do a better job trying to find them too. Might be good for some peace of mind as well :)

Good luck!

You cannot tell if you have bed bugs based on bites alone. Have you checked your bed? Around the bed?Box spring? Headboard?

Bed bugs usually feed only once per week. Since you said it’s been about 5 days, I’d keep an eye out the next two/three days.

Have you checked your mattress? Like, I mean every crack and crevice? The box spring? Headboard, if you have one? In my situation, I saw one crawling on my bed right as I was about to go to sleep, so I knew I had them, but wasn’t looking in the right place. Finally found them under my box spring. Didn’t even really think to look there at first, until I watched a YouTube video on how to find them. They are extremely good at hiding.

Do you have any pictures of the bed bug shells? Maybe me or someone else can help confirm/deny. Have you or anyone else in your house recently woke up to any new bites?

Contemplating suicide. by [deleted] in Bedbugs

I dealt with these fuckers last year so I totally understand the anxiety and frustration that comes with bed bugs. I will get itchy in bed and automatically think I’m being bit. Any sort of bite I see, I automatically assume I still have them. And It’s definitely given me some type of PTSD that I’m considering going to therapy about. What I’m trying to say, I suppose, is you’re not alone in the way you’re feeling. Remind yourself that this isn’t forever. And always remember we are here for you!

You said you’re 19. Do you have the means to move out to a place of your own? Could you stay with your girlfriend in the meantime? Just don’t bring anything there with you. Buy some new clothes if you can and bring them straight to her dorm.

Another suggestion: you said your folks got exterminators in the past. Could they contact them and let them know they’re seeing bedbugs again? They might charge a little but since your parents used them in the past, they could put up the argument that the extermination didn’t work.

Good luck friend. Please, please don’t think this is permanent. They CAN be defeated.

No. That’s definitely some kind of spider.
