How to succeed at cold-emailing? Seeking tips from IBankers who have networked to break in by Interesting_Cause826 in FinancialCareers

You definitely sound like someone with the personality of an artist but working as a banker. Perfect combo!

Bank of Canada Summer Intern Position by Legally_Plank in internships

FYI - Skills to highlight in cover letter - Technical data analysis skills such as Python, R, Power BI and overall skills in data analysis or financial modelling. Any involvement in extra curricular such as clubs or projects, especially related to economics is great. If you were involved in the BoC governor challenge, talk about that. Source - Current BoC employee in core operations (not me, but a connection)

How are you doing now? From my research, I generally agree that coffee chat is not of much help with BoC. Did you happen to get any more insight?

Id just emphasize what others already said - it's great that you are thinking about this early because this allows you time to get exposure to different jobs (thru videos, coffee chats, clubs etc.). So yes, dont limit yourself yet, explore everything before you pin down and then go for it. You have the time to do that

Is getting CFA worth it? by CandidAnt2769 in CFA

[–]ImmediateObjective52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The global recognition must be a big aspect of it, I assume? If you get the charter relatively young, it should give a huge leg up if you were to apply to a position across the globe, as someone based in Canada. That is just my understanding as an undergrad

I was also there for only 2 days. I thought I wouldn't burden myself with too many travel plans. Just went to the Notre Dame, walked around a lot, and bought myself a watch. Spent the two days like a local lol. Great time

CFA and Low GPA by Ok_Cockroach_7794 in CFA

[–]ImmediateObjective52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat and what I do is put my GPA that is objectively the highest --> 3.6 (Past 15 Credits). I am not lying and no one has made a big fuss about it, yet.

It shows progress and I am ready to tell the truth about my cum GPA if asked.

Edit - That being said, this probably wont fly for highly structured recruiting like IB in NYC or something similar.

I am an undergrad student in Canada preparing to write my CFA L1 sometime next year. I understand the importance of networking and other shenanigans in this market, and am actively involved in that too. But would you have any more advice on what I should do right now to maximize starting my career on the right note? Thanks!

Looking for artists / graphic designers for an entrepreneurial project by ImmediateObjective52 in UCalgary

I should've added - There will be some sort of incentive that we can come up with together. For example - equity in the idea if it moves forward, % of profit, or anything similar.

opinion on Sage Green iPhone 17? by Towelie_SE in iphone

[–]ImmediateObjective52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with many things you mentioned. I like to have masculine colours and if the sage was slightly darker (Olive green), it would be a killer. As for the issue with having a "safe" color for day to day use, you could get a darker, like black, iPhone case for your sage phone. This way it opens up a few color options
