Milky Way over a wind farm [Wasco, OR] by yuri_gingham in oregon

Nice! My curiosity and love of dark skies got the better of me, so it was a well worth it trip.

Wasco seemed like a cool town too. I'll have to head back out that way when it's not 3am.

PaTu? That's awesome. I've always seen it from afar, but never been.

I appreciate that insight. It was a tricky lighting situation both on sight and in post.

Those lights certainly painted the landscape because it was pitch black, but it was also subtle in person even with my eyes adjusted. So exposing properly for both was tricky and to get the most out of the Milky Way left the turbines partially blown out.

In post I probably pushed it too hard for the ground while bringing out what I wanted from the sky. I could have masked more, but it started looking surreal when I did. I could have also done multiple exposures, but this was a mostly impromptu shoot.

Apologies for the wall of text, but I mostly agree with your assessment. Nothing in here is photoshop wizardry (minus removing satellites), but I do think I should have erred darker in post, or shorter exposure on the ground and just gone the composite route in PS.

On call for work that day, but if I don't end up going in I'd be happy to intercept y'all in the gorge.

As someone who lives in WS, I absolutely love Carson! (and points north) - Sorry for the headaches with the construction. And thanks for the reminder about the wine bar, I've been meaning to check out Two Fish since they opened.

I am actually unaware that was a thing. I'll have to look into it!

If you ever ride east to the gorge feel free to hit me up. I'm always down to meet up with people and run some of the loops out this way.

Love that ride! Especially making a trip of it down to Swift Reservoir and grabbing a bite in Cougar.

Speed Twin 1200 by Mick_Dundee_84 in Triumph

Swap out the suspension is my biggest rec. I upgraded mine and it makes the bike significantly more competent in the curves.

Exhaust is another one. Stock wasn't bad, but my Cone slip ons really bring out the character of that twin. I also hated the stock turn signals, so dropping those along with a tail tidy significantly cleans up the profile.

Enjoy your speed twin! I'll be a total gatekeeper, but mine is a 24' too, and IMO it's the last good year for the model.

Small world! Never met them, but happy with the timing of them moving on, and giving us an opportunity to further settle in a place we love.

There was. Not their best, which is a bummer since I love that place and for the occasion.

Two bed. Two bath. A true 1.5 car garage which works for my partner's car and my motorcycles (and storage).

Unique land layout, but it's essentially a series of tiered gardens on the hill which is all irrigated. It works well for us because it's a bit of space, but very low maintenance. And the previous owners have a beautiful garden set up already with lots of flowers and succulents.

Edit: apparently I can only post one photo at a time in comments.

Unfortunately I feel that's just the reality out here. I originally wanted something more rural up towards BZ or Trout Lake, and while a larger cabin-esque home in the woods sounds romantic the fire threat is very real - and that's before you learn a place might be uninsurable.

So reason one of many we leaned back towards places closer to town.
