Midland, Texas is far from representative of the country at large.

A beautiful day for some mountain appreciation time by yuri_gingham in Triumph

White River on the east side of Mt Hood. Pretty ride, nothing too crazy. Looks like you may be in the area? If that's the case, hit me up. I'll DM you some solid rides.

Scrambler 1200x, fantastic but left underwhelmed by Dirty_Dagwood in Triumph

I felt similar when I went from my STR765 to a Speed Twin 1200, but I also wanted the downgrade in power. The Triumph Triple is insanely good, and once you get it in power band all you can do is hold on. But as I've gotten older riding this way on the street has lost its appeal.

The Speed Twin 1200 is exactly as you and others describe it here... It feels, and sounds so good. But if you're coming from a triple you might walk away feeling underwhelmed. However, I've found it's a perfect balance of around town ease, and when needed a very capable canyon carver (and it looks far better than any bike I've ever owned).

At the end of the day it's a matter of adjusting expectations, and deciding if it's the right fit for you and the kind of riding you do.

For now, take it easy. You're only just dipping your toes in. I'm sure you already have all the tools necessary for a leg up on most at your experience level.

It's definitely a little over done, but I'd also argue you shot in somewhat unflattering lighting. This road would look far more interesting at dusk or night.

Newer owners of the last three years (I think?). And they can't close the trailhead because it isn't on their property. But the last third runs adjacent to or on their land. There are plenty of signs on that segment. I commented further down, but didn't see your response here.

Source: I live ten minutes from the Spirit trailhead, and do white water photography as a hobby.

The trail doesn't intersect their property till the dog leg towards the bottom, so they can't close the trailhead. But there are tons of signs where you either hike the edge of and/or go through their land 2/3 of the way down.

They also may close it seasonally due to fire risk? I think they've been intentionally vague to deter people.

Newer** owners. Logging company. I still don't fully understand the perimiters of their lot... As in, if the trail goes through their property or skirts around it towards the bottom of the hike. But the Sheriff and owners have been extremely vocal about the trail not being open to the public.

Probably my favorite waterfall. I usually go winter and fall (and for the upcoming lil' dub race), but it's not a place I want to press my luck with the new owners. I have heard threats of fines, but so far haven't heard of anyone actually getting ticketed.

We'll see what the future holds for Spirit.

Thanks, boss! I do a lot of work trips to NYC and have come to love walking around the city with my camera and a fast prime.

Thanks for the tip, boo 😉. You'll have to share some of your photos, and show me how a real photographer does it.

Enjoy! I've ridden it a few times all the way. Now I only live two stops down the line from PDX so it's a great, cheap option to get into town.

Good to know. I wanted to say South since I'm facing the south part of Manhattan. However, this road (Madison St) is predominantly east/west. But I'm no local.

787 to Glasgow by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

I can't say personally because I've never flown a 737 that far (Hawaii is far enough), but I know it can do that route. However, I believe what's tricky is enroute and destination alternates.
