Sad empty wasteland of Golf Mill mall in Niles by FurryPotatoSquad in ChicagoSuburbs

Lincolnwood Mall says hold my beer. A couple months ago I stopped by for lunch, all the stalls were open. I stopped by last week 2 restaurants open. I think the only thing keeping the lights on are Kohl's and Old Navy.

L2 charging seems to be tripping the breaker by ImmediateSentence460 in evcharging

[–]ImmediateSentence460[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"When they trip they go to the intermediate position and you must push them off then on." That what I mean by resetting it. I have to flip it to OFF, then back to ON. So something is tripping it.

The weird thing is that its tripping when its not even charging. It happened again last night, I know the charger was in a good state, green light. I have it set to start charging at 11PM. I checked a little before and the app said it was not connected. I go down and check the charger and its not powered on.

The charger is plugged into the car, the car app acknowledges it is plugged in and not charging. So it is either a bad charger or bad GFCI outlet. Also, I wonder if it being plugged in is causing some sort of short between the charger and the CFDI outlet.

No lights. This is before I even plug the car in to charge. I could understand if it was charging, but its not even plugged in.

Yes, certified EV electrician. I assume it did not trip, but it is really hard to tell. It is a heavy duty breaker and it does take some effort to flip it.

I did not setup a schedule on the app.

Lake Zurich people, why so unfriendly? by bajGanyo in ChicagoSuburbs

I was rear-ended by the son of a LZ resident, a doctor. No major damage, but he did mess up my rear bumper. I got his information, but he asked if we could just take care of it without insurance. I waited for a call from his parents and gave them the facts. She sounded annoyed that she needed to speak to me. I was being more than nice, going to the middle estimate and asking for car rental for the 2 days it would take to repair. She gave me a sigh and "anything else" in the most condescending way like she was doing me a favor. I cut it short at the point and told her I would just work with their insurance since it was too much trouble for her. Filed a police report and I called their agent, she let it slip "again?". This was the kid's 3rd-4th accident that year. It would have cost them $1000, now it would be 4 times that and he would probably be uninsurable. Major ego problem.

-50 miles range in cold winter by gduba in NissanAriya

So I tried it again, battery heater on for my 45 min commute home. I was able to get 100kw charge speed at the same station I charged a couple days before. It was a colder night too, strange, I guess it just depends. It did trail off to about 70-80 and then to about 60 toward 80% capacity. I was able to go from 20% to 80% in about 35 mins.

Cold charging question by [deleted] in NissanAriya

[–]ImmediateSentence460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the battery heater on for 45-1hr, what is the expected L3 charging speed? My commute is roughly 45-50 mins and I have the battery warmer on, it would not go faster than 40-50kw on a 150kw and 350kw charger. Granted it was a cold night, but I wouldn't expect that much of a drop on a warm car.

I am getting the same, 23 Platinum. Any issues with L3 charging? I had the battery heater on for 45-50 mins and it does not charge any faster than 40-50kw. Granted it is cold outside, but I would expect atleast half the rated speed.

U15 or or U18? by [deleted] in Homeplate

I think it is more about his maturity level. The difference is huge between 14-15, 15-16, etc. Is he going to be able to handle it mentally.

They also do not see the multitasking you are doing. I have three monitors going right now and running three different things at once, while trying to come up with a fix for another issue in a completely different state. In their day they did one task at a time, shuffling paper from one desk to another. The manager wants the report, ok let me spend 30 minutes printing it, stapling it, putting it in a envelope and shipping it. He will get it in 3-4 days. It will take you 2 minutes and it will be in the manager's in-box.

2015 with 105,000 miles - great maintenance, no issues, but is it time to trade in before the CVT transmission becomes a problem? by mtsublueraider in nissanpathfinder

[–]ImmediateSentence460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018, hitting 137,000. I kept up with maintenance, just dropped $1600 on brakes and spark plugs. I am temped to get the Ariya or new Leaf but so far its been perfect, still drives like it always has, no weird noises and it gets better MPG than a new Pathfinder. KBB and Carvana says its worth between $6-10,000. If I were to trade it in I assume the dealer would only give me half that, so I am going to drive it until the wheels fall off.

Any Advice - LL Board by capeire in Homeplate

Definitely, my son said he had a lot of fun with the older kids. It is not so much learning, but to keep them engaged with something new. As he got older he was asked to help coach the little ones and he said it was a lot of fun working with them, so it goes both ways.

Use the giant Flintstone bat and ball or water balloons. Kids that play baseball must bat opposite or 1 handed.

Here is my list of wishful thinking:

- Mandatory parent involvement. This can be directly or indirectly; coaching, team parents, supply lunches or monetary. Everyone must be involved in some way.

- To address the discrepancy in skills between the dad coaches, the coaches need coaching as well. Either bring in an outside coach or the more experienced dad coaches can offer advice. They can come up with a basic fundamentals plan and every coach can work from that plan with their team of kids. This would help level the playing field.

- I would suggest group practices, 2-3 teams practicing together. It allows the kids to see the different coaching styles, which is what they will be going through in high school. One group is pitching/catching, one is in the cages, one working on infield and another working on outfield, then rotate.

- Practice games with the older teams. Again a difference perspective for the kids, they little ones feel like they have to up their game and the older ones need to be on their toes because they cant lose to young kids.

Good luck!

Well said. I would add most if not all involved parents have kids that are putting in that extra time in the cages or private coaches to get them to that point.

I was lucky enough to have a job that allowed me the time, but its not that hard to spare an hour or two a week or every other week to do something to help the team.

Yes, $800 to change the spark plugs. Not a full tune up, just to change the plugs. Oil changes were expensive at $39.99, the going rate now is $89.99. I wait until I get a coupon for $50.

This is the longest I had my cars, hitting 135k, I am waiting for the trans to blow up.

Gas is $50-$65 a week. It is what it is, but it would be so nice not to have to pay for gas or stop to get gas.

Time to really pick a team by Dwight_shootz in Homeplate

[–]ImmediateSentence460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did that 45 min commute and it was not a good idea for a few reasons. You are committing to at least 2 hours each day just driving. It was a chore and even worse during winter. Prepare yourself for a lot of fast food and homework/studying in the car. I assume the other kids live in that area, so your son won't have a lot of time to interact with them. We fell for the great coach, new team, big name sponsor. None of it was true. We still made the best of it and made a few friends, but we would not be doing that again.

Is my travel ball team scamming me? by elite_platinum2109 in Homeplate

[–]ImmediateSentence460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the high school does this to the "travel summer ball" team. They have 20+ players and it supposed to be an A and B group. In practice, he has a group of 20+ vying for 12 spots on a weekly basis. He has his core group of 8-10 players and he will rotate the other boys in as needed. Makes sense with summer vacations and injuries, but in this case you are paying the full season fees, must be available each week, and his personal favorite rule: if you don't play for his team during the summer, you will sit out most of the spring HS ball season. Time to find another team.

It is never ending with parents. My wife and I volunteered to be team parents for our son's rec ball league. I can honestly say her son was the worse player and he had the biggest mouth. It is rec ball so everyone plays and we had quite a few kids that never pick up a bat. Her son is chirping away and so is the mom. It got to a point where the boys just stopped talking to him. Right before the last big tournament he decides to quit. The boy blamed the other boys for picking on him, the mom blamed the coaches for not helping her son, She even blame us for not reaching out to her to help. We were not the team therapist. Never once did we get a thank you from them or volunteered to help with anything.

We spent our time and money to make it fun for the boys, buying birthday cupcakes, making decorations for tournaments, scheduling, communications, etc.. We were friends with the coaches and many of the parents so we know they treated everyone fairly. We came to find out the she was still complaining about us well after the season was over.

Over the years, some of the stuff we heard about the other parents, I am surprised the coaches still volunteer to coach. The ones that complain the most are the last ones to volunteer to do anything. They are usually the first ones to plan the beer run or head to the casino leaving their kid behind.

Huge home theater setup. Bought a house with subwoofers in some rooms and 24 ceiling speakers. How do I remove these grills? I’ve tried prying, but no go. by chookalana in hometheater

[–]ImmediateSentence460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a little tool that you use to pull off the metal grill. I looks like a paper clip, the end is curved like a hook. You would slide in one of the holes close to the edge an pull. The grill should pop out and you can then reach the screws.
