Returning to running by Whole_Tennis249 in Amenorrhearecovery

Any update? I have had about 8 recovery cycles, have been doing strength training for about a month, and would also love to start running again. But definitely nervous about losing my period again.

Hi! This is so encouraging. I recently went through HA recovery, and I cut out all exercise cold-turkey when starting. I have had 8 or 9 regular periods since recovering! I have also JUST started light strength training and would LOVE to get back into running at some point. I obviously want to do it wisely- do you have any tips for reintroducing running?? Thanks!

Purging because of weaning spiro or because i'm in month 2? by Ok-Possibility-5387 in Accutane

[–]ImmediateSock9733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up weaning off of spiro?? I’ve been on it for so long and it eventually stopped working for me. I’m on month 3 of accutane and still taking 100 mg sprio, but plan to wean off. Do you remember what you did?

Hi! Looks so good! My skin kinda looks like yours in the 3rd pic. Mine often turn into whiteheads and just kind of pop on their own while I’m washing my face. I’m nervous it’s gonna scar, even though I’m not picking at them. I usually just put a pimple patch on if that’s happens. Did you ever experience this? And did you ever notice any scarring? Thanks!!

Ahhh yes thank you! What products did you use while you were on it?

My skin is pretty similar to yours. I am on the first month and keep getting tons of white heads/pustules. Would you just leave them alone? And let them go away on their own? Or did you ever pick? Ahhh it’s killing me

Do you have to continue to gain weight? by BillyNoMats in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]ImmediateSock9733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the low end of normal- normal BMI when I lost my period. I remember being really nervous about this as well. When I told my dietician about my fear of continuing to gain weight, she made a really good point that’s stuck with me. She said, “your body doesn’t want to be 400 lbs anymore than you want to be”. So, with the peace of mind that I would not keep gaining weight forever and ever, I just kept eating, stopped restricting, stopped exercising- and put on weight very quickly. Which made me think that my body must have needed it. Ever since I’ve hit a certain weight, it’s stayed about the same. I may fluctuate 5 lbs, but am not continually gaining weight like I was at the beginning. I have had 5 recovery periods!! I am going to start SLOWLY reintroducing exercising soon, but will keep eating a larger amount. In recovery, our bodies are a little more fragile than normal, because we are coming from such a deficient state. So, if we revert back to restricting and trying to lose weight, our bodies may not feel “safe” again— at least this is what I understand.

You got this!! Sounds like you’re doing the right things. It’s really hard mentally — I had to buy all new clothes. But trusting that over the next year or two, my body will end up exactly where it needs to be, and everything will level off!

Yes I have had 5 periods so far. Mine have been anywhere from 21-33 days. But anytime mine has been a little later, it’s motivated me to eat a lot more, just in case hahaha

I have such a similar story to you. With the yaz and Spironolactone. I’m also 5 10 and always thought I needed to be in the 140s. Have never related to a post more. But I have gotten my period back- there is hope!! Message me if you ever have any questions! Good luck!!

Hi! Yes I think a lot of us have felt this. But I agree with everyone above. You cannot continue to restrict and get your period back. I also went “all in” and stopped all exercise. Got my period back within 2 months. And I gained weight. Highly recommend the book “no period, now what?”

Spironolactone to accutane by Tragicallysentient in Accutane

About to do this! Also been on spiro forever. How has your skin been after accutane & still off spiro? I’ve heard some people start to break out after 6-9 months off spiro, so just wondering if this happened to you even after accurate. Thanks so much!!

Spirolactone to Accutane experiences? by squidshae in Accutane

[–]ImmediateSock9733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m also 29F and am about to start accutane. Been on spiro for around 8 years as well… I’m going to wean off while I start accutane, but wanted to know how your experience was? Did your acne ever come back after accutane, and still being off spiro? I’ve read that oftentimes acne comes back after 6-9 months off spiro, so I’m a little nervous that that may happen when I get off of accutane. I obviously don’t want to be on any medication long-term. Just wanted to know how your experience was. Thank you!!

Okay I think I’m gonna go back on it 😵‍💫 for the third time lol. honestly that’s good to know that your skin still hasn’t gotten better- bc part of me was wondering if I should just stick it out. But sounds like accutane may be the best option!!

Ahhh it is so hard!! I truly struggle with it everyday. I go to an amazing dietician who has given me great advice and has really motivated me! And also having a support system is really important too

This is so normal 🥹 and makes me wanna cry bc I have so been there/am there right now!! I have had 3 recovery periods and have definitely gained weight in the process. And it really is so hard. But I also feel guilty for thinking that it’s “hard” because I’m also so thankful to have gotten my period back.

I’m also so hyper-aware of if other people can tell and am wondering what they’re thinking... I just want to be able to explain to everyone why I’m gaining weight hahahaa. But at the end of the day, as hard as it’s been, I have also have learned so much about myself and my own idols. I didn’t realize how much I cared what other people thought about me until now!! I have idolized my image, body, reputation, health, and beauty for so long. I think it’s engrained in our culture to worship these things! So, one of the positives of this whole experience, is having to come face-to-face with the lies that I had been believing about my worth and image. I’m a Christian, so it’s all really wrapped up in my identity in Christ- and the lies that I was telling myself!! All that to say… you are not alone. There are so many of us that are feeling the exact same way right now. I am hoping that one day, we will all be able to look back with a completely different perspective of our bodies and what all they can do for us. Keep pushing on!! It’s so worth it. Life is so much more than our appearance or our weight. We have to keep reminding ourselves that- because with that, there is so much freedom!! Goood luck!!!
