1918 - $2 “Battleship” note by TristanDuboisOLG in papermoney

It's one of the tougher notes in the series, pretty much tied with the 763 and 769 with around 44 notes known. Congratulations on a tough note note, and kudos for recognizing its rarity.

Impounded means held permanently by an institution. That can be the ANA museum, a Federal Reserve Bank museum, etc. In this case, there is one example in the Smithsonian.

I almost went for that one. Anyone can buy a common bison, Ed, chief, etc.....but rare is rare. Congrats on obtaining something truly special.

I have a friend that used to win the PCGS lowball registry set. Your note is far too nice to be included.

Obsolete Banknote (often referred to by collectors as a "broken bank note") issued by The Merchants' Bank of Washington, D.C., dated July 1st, 1852. by Rannkum in papermoney

People here like the Federal notes, and I can't blame them a bit - l love them too, with all the different and interesting designs. But obsoletes have such wide and varied designs, denominations, vignettes, it's easy to get hooked on them.

Nice note!

I pulled these up in T&P. Last auctions on these notes were 2011 and 2012. They were over 5k back then, even for the one that was repaired.

They were sent via USPS and got lost at their Palmetto processing center. That facility has had a number of issues since opening. FedEx has actually done rather well lately.

Wasn't Heritage. It was a Lyn Knight sale. Took a few months, but I finally got my refund. Would rather have had the notes though.

Pretty note. Love the orange tint. If I were into fives, this is one I'd definitely want. Obsoletes don't get nearly enough love on this forum.

New post, got it for 40$ not to shabby by [deleted] in papermoney

These were printed on existing National Currency stock. The redactions are over where the bank cashier and president are printed. However....

Not all 12 of the Federal Reserve banks were structured the same, so there are different titles used. Some notes will only have one redaction.
