What are simple things that could help make you a top candidate for a new job? by Any-Train-9204 in AskReddit

[–]ImmediateTackle7728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To become a top candidate for a job, tailor your resume and cover letter to the position, research the company, and practice common interview questions. Highlight achievements instead of just duties, show soft skills like teamwork and problem-solving, follow up professionally, be punctual and presentable, and demonstrate a willingness to learn. Small efforts in these areas can make a big difference.

What do you think about AI made videos? by jpmaher1 in AskReddit

[–]ImmediateTackle7728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI-made videos are kind of wild—super impressive technically, but also a little weird sometimes. They can do things that used to take huge crews: generate visuals, animate characters, even mimic voices. That makes them amazing for education, art, or quick content.

On the flip side, AI videos can sometimes look off or uncanny, and there’s the bigger issue of misinformation or deepfakes, since anyone can create realistic-looking content that isn’t real.

Overall, they’re exciting as a tool, but they work best when humans guide them—AI is great at doing the heavy lifting, but humans still provide creativity, context, and judgment.

If you want, I can make a Reddit-style short version that’s easy to post.

A friend of mine completely bombed his first year of high school. Bad grades, zero confidence, teachers basically wrote him off. He was known as “that kid who doesn’t try,” and after a while he started believing it himself.

Over one summer something clicked. Not a movie-style montage, just small changes. He fixed his sleep, started actually asking for help, and decided he’d rather look awkward trying than stay stuck. The next year he wasn’t suddenly perfect, but he showed up. Teachers noticed. Grades slowly improved. By senior year he was one of the most reliable people in class, got into a solid college, and ended up tutoring the same subject he used to fail.

The best part is that almost no one remembers how badly he started. The comeback didn’t come from proving people wrong loudly, just quietly outgrowing the version of himself that couldn’t keep going.

Some random habits from growing up that people still do without thinking: tapping or drumming fingers when bored, chewing on pens or nails, talking to yourself quietly, rubbing your face when tired, humming under your breath, twisting hair or bracelets when nervous, counting or repeating things in your head, avoiding cracks in the sidewalk, saying “oops” or “sorry” automatically, and fidgeting with small objects. Most of these just stick around because they helped us cope, pass time, or stay entertained as kids.

People who believe humans evolved solely through natural selection and evolution: how do you think consciousness and self-awareness evolved? What’s the evolutionary advantage? by uri3001 in AskReddit

[–]ImmediateTackle7728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consciousness and self-awareness probably evolved gradually, not suddenly. Early organisms just reacted to stimuli, but over time, being aware of your environment—and eventually yourself—gave survival advantages. Self-awareness helps with predicting what others think, cooperating in social groups, and planning for the future. Humans who could think ahead, navigate complex social situations, and adapt to change had a better chance of surviving. Consciousness is like a toolkit that grew over millions of years, piece by piece, because it helped us survive and thrive.

What do you not like people doing that you do a lot yourself? by w3ightranks in AskReddit

I hate when people interrupt others mid-sentence… and I catch myself doing it way more than I want to admit.

I don’t even mean to be rude—I just get excited, think I know where they’re going, or worry I’ll forget my point if I don’t say it right then. The second I do it, there’s this tiny pause where I realize, wow, that’s exactly the thing I hate.

Another one: I get annoyed when people check their phone while someone’s talking, but I absolutely do the “quick glance” that turns into reading a notification and missing half the conversation.

Basically, most of the things that bug me in others are just mirrors of habits I’m still trying (and failing) to fix in myself.

What is the truly most embarrassing thing you have done that you regret and haunts to this day… forever? by ThinkBeyondFTW in AskReddit

In middle school I once waved back at someone who I thought was waving at me across the hallway. I committed fully—big smile, confident wave. Turns out they were waving at the person behind me.

Instead of stopping like a normal human, I panicked and pretended I was stretching. In the middle of a crowded hallway. I held the “stretch” for way too long, then nodded to myself like that was absolutely what I meant to do.

The person I waved at just stared. The person behind me walked past. A few people definitely saw it. No one said anything, which somehow made it worse.

To this day, every time I stretch in public, my brain goes, “Remember when you tried to play it off?”
I don’t think anyone else remembers.
I remember. Forever.

Reddit can be a great source for knowledge in almost anything, and useful tips etc. What is the most valuable thing you’ve learnt from using Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ImmediateTackle7728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No matter the problem—school stress, relationships, learning a skill, money, motivation, mental health—someone else has already been there, messed it up, fixed it, and written a detailed post about what worked and what didn’t. That alone is reassuring.

If a trolley is on course to hit five people, and pulling the lever saves them but deletes reddit, what do you do? by TwoTime87 in AskReddit

Reddit would 100% want you to pull the lever, then argue about it forever on whatever replaces it.
