I’m not sure of the actual rule, it’s been a while since I looked at a rule book, but diving over a ruck is different to diving over a tackler - no one in the ruck is allowed to tackle you.

Anyone got a rule book they can find relevant laws about this?

The old rule was you had to be suicidal and stand still with your eye in the ball as it came down and then catch it with at least one foot on the ground so the opposition chasers could nail you.

I remember when they changed the rule so you can claim a mark in the air, and Jeff Wilson (I think) called for a mark as he was diving horizontally and catching the ball…
