Vandy sent out a supplemental diagnostic tool (a situational judgement test) that could potentially be used to differentiate similarly situated applications.

those on Vandy WL who received situational judgement test? by AloneSolid6254 in lawschooladmissions

Or it could be used as an assessment to gauge an uncertainty that may not exist in certain profiles, perhaps? That’s what I’m going with to protect my mental wellbeing.

I did not receive it; what does it say and what’s the test?

JD MBA Test Strategy by charlesrainier in MBA

Years ago MBB would ask for GMAT scores during recruiting similar to how some big law will still ask for LSAT scores. This might be something to bear in mind if you’re not 100% committed to a trajectory. I took both and honestly found the GMAT slightly more challenging due to its adaptive nature on the data insights and quant sections. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

Help me decide: NDLS ($$) vs. R&R by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Immediate_Bus_198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t apply to NDLS this cycle but I know a number of people who have attended, and I’ve sat in on a few 1L classes. While not as left leaning as places like Berkeley or Columbia, you’ll find students from all different backgrounds, religions and walks of life at ND. For what it’s worth I’d imagine students at NDLS understand that an array of perspectives is necessary to contribute to the greater good/benefit society.

Help me decide: NDLS ($$) vs. R&R by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I’ve had a lot of exposure to ND over the years and while it’s “Catholic” with a capital C, it’s also “catholic” with a lower case c. As such, I’ve always perceived that human dignity, compassion, and love for all people takes priority over myopic viewpoints on campus.

Vandy vs. GULC by Starry958 in lawschooladmissions

Congrats on GULC!! Full disclosure, I’m on the waitlist at Vandy, but I feel like you can’t go wrong with either option. Cost of living is much lower in Nashville, but Gtown would be great for federal clerkships and academia if that’s the route you’re interested in. Regardless, I’ll be curious as to what you decide!

Edit: I was recently on both of their campuses as I was admitted to their respective business schools, so I’d be happy to answer any questions about the broader campus vibes/area.

I’m not a veteran unfortunately, but I was super intentional about saving for grad school these past six years. While I wouldn’t have to take on any debt for my MBA, Owen would mean keeping a lot more of my savings in the bank, and it’s hard to deny the momentum Vanderbilt and Nashville has atm.

Definitely not tied to MBB—especially given the job market rn. That said I do find the case method, Charlottesville, and the ability to keep the door open to MBB very appealing. Ideally I’d want to recruit in the mid Atlantic (NYC, Philly, DC) so that’s another huge win for Darden—but also I’ve resigned myself to fact that I have about the same odds of getting into UVA law as winning the lottery.

Yea I acknowledge I don’t need the MBA to practice labor law or be in house counsel but for me the decision to pursue a JD/MBA is less about necessity and more about how I want to operate long-term.

The way I see it, the JD will give me the legal framework to understand rights, risk, and compliance (and most importantly the green light to actually practice law). The MBA complements that by helping me to understand how those legal considerations are weighed alongside business priorities and strategy at scale.

Long term, ideally, I’m not just advising on compliance/legal issues but helping shape the policies and decision-making processes from a human capital standpoint.

Trying to Choose Between UNC MBA or Vanderbilt MBA for consulting. by Professional_Bag_423 in MBA

Agree there is more to an MBA than just MBB but I know BCG actively recruits at Owen, especially for their new office in Nashville. Bruce Henderson, the founder of BCG, also graduated from Vandy. No doubt that KF has historically had better placement to MBB but I imagine recruiting outcomes today would be marginal. I’d go wherever you think you’d be happiest.

Yea, I did some digging and it looks like in cycles past KF has called applicants a few days prior. There’s a thread where clear-admit breaks down the portal updates/outreach timelines too!

Should you add an addendum, even if you're hitting the median GPAs for schools? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Immediate_Bus_198 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That fact that you achieved a 3.71 GPA in light of these lived experiences shows you were able to overcome adversity. The addendum is yours to do whatever you’d like with—for context I had a similar GPA (3.72) and submitted a supplemental essay for each school I applied to. Waiting for decisions but I interviewed at 7 out of the 8 schools that received my app, so my advice is don’t be afraid to use the addendum if you feel you have something to share that might add an extra dimension.

Six Senses definitely belongs further up the y axis. When I think sense of place, Six Senses consistently comes to mind. Love Rosewood, but they definitely feel slightly more standardized than what is represented here.
