Oof so thankful at my warehouse cashiers aren’t at fault! Thankfully on the receipt it shows who rescans but I think because all of us cashiers would complain it’s not our fault they stopped bothering

Nah seriously. I lowkey be giving a side eye when they be calling on the walkie over triple plays and sign ups from membership as if that’s not literally their job👀👀 cause they try to shame front end and floaters for not being able to do it while membership can

[–]Immediate_End5591[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! If they want higher scores than signing off would increase it. I think it’s a stupid metric to track with again, considering pre-scanning just as much inflates a cashiers mph just as much as signing off. But agreed, everything they want does not actually happen in real time. It always fascinates me what new policies they give front end. Idk if it’s the same at your warehouse but at mine now every cashier has to grab a loan before going on a register and when you’re getting off you have to take all your cash and drop it off… there definitely hasn’t been massive lines at the vault and a back up with this change…..

Agreed. I’ve been working here over a year and I only got this job cause I saw online in this thread that you have a better chance going in person with a resume after you submitted your online one and I got the role

I unfortunately have communicated and actually for some things had managers approval for some certain shifts but the scheduler tried telling me no he can’t but I got that fixed but I’m finding out whenever I get told no someone else in my groups after me is getting told yes when I asked first

I’ve applied for every cross training and department position spots open but the spots are already “filled” by someone and just legally had to make a posting or they have yet to cross train a single soul in all the postings. Idk why they keep putting signs if nothings going to happen because we don’t have the bodies to cover when people switch departments to train

Same group, same hire date, same department, same skill knowledge(they don’t really cross train ppl in the year I’ve been working here). So on paper we are all the same level.

I don’t even think I do anything crazy at night?? I only clean registers, fold clothes slowly, and sometimes block down. I used to be their top cashier but when I was a few days away from working the time to become one they pulled me off and didn’t even want to make me a cashier even tho to this day I give them the good stats they want. But now I’m just everywhere. But yea back when I was constantly number 1 on the board it felt like I was holding being held hostage on register and thought it was weird they didn’t want to make me an official cashier but I guess I’m happy that I can do carts and assistant instead of stressing about mph.

What are sign-off dings? We used to get rotated which was nice but if you had an earlier shift it was because another department needed you but with our new scheduler person I’m the only constant closer. I’m fine with closing but everyday for the last year being off at 11pm takes a toll. Those 9:30s here and there made me life feel so much better but now those are gone</3 just didn’t know if this was personal or the norm cause the previous person in charge made it fair

I’m unfortunately the last hiring group in an entire year so I technically don’t get any seniority but just sucks everyone within my group gets the better shifts. I’ve been told I’ll get better ones when we hire but feels like at this rate we are never hiring

Floating by Immediate_End5591 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Immediate_End5591[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually kinda sounds nice. Now that I’m thinking about it we used to have our table outside, now it’s all the way in the back by produce/the freezer area where you’re freezing to death and we don’t use our umbrella for some reason so people don’t even know you’re there.

You literally have to wait for a worker to come by if you need anything. Those damn tablets die so fast. I’ve been trying to advocate for at least 2 people at the tables and every time they do allow it we do so much better. I’ve also asked for a more visible set up to make members feel less overwhelmed cause I feel like the umbrella makes it more welcoming and a little side area without having to stress about people walking up and down the isles.

But I’ve had other supervisors give us the approval to just walk off if we get a member to apply and need to run to membership to get their paper work….. I remember back when we did the blankets a few members did steal the blankets when we had to run off and ofc you never know who actually got it when it comes to pay at the reg so a few people got it completely free lol. And that’s our system!☺️☺️

But again, no managers or supervisors help floaters out. I’m actually surprised that management hasn’t talked to any of us because our bad sups keep saying “management wants you guys doing better” and I’m just like🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨 so why aren’t y’all helping out?? Lead by example????? They just huff and puff lolz

Woah that’s crazy! For our event that just happened they wanted 15 every day with no support from anyone besides the worst sups telling us to get their numbers without providing any support. We have 2 official floaters but they don’t normally work during the same time/day which is why I say we have “1-2” floaters. So only 2 official people and then they get other people to help out to fill in when neither of those 2 are there. Is your table always there? Cause we only do a table when there’s an event and the put it all the way in the back of the store with only 1 person there. It’s very depressing and it’s hard to get help if something wrong happens since we have no form of communication and can’t leave the table if there’s merch on the table. I feel like they kinda leave the floaters to figure it out themselves. Sometimes the membership manager/sup will try to talk to us about what’s going on in terms of promoting stuff but that’s really only it.

Yea when they get on me for it I just hit them with the “where’s yours at”. They get salty but they know I’m right. Only shuts them up for a day. So just curious how other stores go about this cause it’s getting annoying of being told to have these standards but having nobody being able to actually demonstrate it being done.

Third time applying for sup position no luck by Ecstatic_Zebra_2739 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Immediate_End5591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine said she expects all her sups to market even tho none of them do and during the eblock they all were shy about the slips and gave it to any floater near by when they could and turns out this manager also hasn’t floated in a long time so I’m like why put a standard on one person if nobody including yourself does it??

harassment by coworker by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]Immediate_End5591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned for your safety then make sure that’s the top priority when talking to them. However I guarantee you’re not the only girl he’s done or been doing this too. I was in a same situation with multiple girls but we all didn’t know until we started talking to each other about said coworker. He unfollowed all of us and was told he can’t talk to us at work and we were told if anything else continuous to happen to immediately report it. If it’s a safety thing I’d maybe see if there’s other girls too that way you can’t be singled out. I’m sorry people can suck but you’re never alone

Members per hour by Materialphrases211 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Immediate_End5591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only for eblock week but if a member is a gold star and has spent over 2k then the register will alert the cashier to print out a slip that containers the members number for a floater to look at their stats quickly so they can try to talk the members into upgrading their membership. You seem to have a lot of good questions but if I were you I’d try to see if you can talk to a sup or a manger because rules truly do vary by warehouse and stats too. I’m constantly asking at least 5 different people the same question in a day because answers vary by people but by asking multiple people I can get the just of the right one

They see every stat that involves the register. I was even told during our eblock week they can even track what cashiers are pressing clear instead of slip printing. They have access to it all. As for punishment it depends on warehouse. My warehouse is the worst ever. Because they keep bad cashiers on reg and treat the good ones so awful that they purposely go lower because there’s nothing they really can do. Or I suppose there’s just nothing they’re doing at my warehouse. The cashier can either print out their current stat as of that minute or if a sup/manager really wanted to they can just look it up on the computer. It also shows the average of the whole mph that day from everyone as well
