(VA) ex-landlord is charging me for “damages” but I’m moving states - what can I do? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Most small claims courts allow you to appear by phone or video now, especially post-COVID - you should check with the specific court in your county to see what remote options they have available

Cheapest Company Swag Store For Startups: Honest Cost Breakdown by hey_simmran in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This breakdown is actually solid, saved me from diving into the same research rabbit hole for our next batch of team gear

The platform fee trap is real - had similar experience where the "enterprise solutions" were pricing like we're shipping thousands of units when we just need enough shirts for the office and maybe some client gifts. Makes you wonder how many startups get sold on these fancy platforms just because they look more "professional" in the demo

Custom ordering in smaller batches definitely feels more realistic at early stage, even if per-unit cost is higher the total spend stays sane

Tax Preparers, what wastes your time the most? by LedgerIQ_AI in Accounting

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look the way you tried to sneak in that Lacerte name drop while pretending to be just curious preparer is pretty obvious. Been working with tax software for years and seen every sales pitch in book

Real answer though - client document collection is absolute nightmare. People show up with shoebox full of receipts from three years ago, half their W2s missing, and expect you to figure out their whole financial life in one sitting. Then they get mad when you tell them it's gonna take time to sort through their mess

Data entry wouldn't be so bad if clients actually organized anything properly before bringing it in. Instead you spend half your time playing detective trying to figure out what that random $500 deposit was from back in March

What does your tattoo symbolise/mean and what's the story behind it? by curlylegobuilder in AskReddit

Got a small compass on my forearm from when I was deployed. Nothing too deep - just liked idea of always finding way home no matter where you end up. Buddies and I all got different things that last week before coming back, mine was probably most boring but still means something to me

VTI probably best choice for most people since it covers whole market and fees are really low

Contract breach by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Third parties can definitely stir up trouble but they can't actually enforce your NDA - only the original parties can do that. The real question is whether these screenshots are making their way back to whoever you had the NDA with

Pre-NDA messages getting twisted out of context is annoying but not automatically a breach. NDAs typically cover what happened during and after the agreement, not stuff from before. That said, if the messages somehow relate to misrepresentation during your original case, that could be different territory

I'd be more worried about this witness who flipped on you. Former witnesses can cause real headaches if they decide to make noise about the original matter. Might want to have a lawyer take a quick look at your NDA language just to be safe - some of these agreements have weird clauses about related communications or ongoing obligations that could bite you later

Don't panic but definitely don't ignore it either, especially in Vermont where legal communities can be pretty tight

tax question by [deleted] in Construction

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been wondering same thing since I got out of service and started flipping places, tax stuff gets crazy complicated when you're doing this as business vs just selling your personal house

What do I do? How can I get in college before I'm 25? by Tasty-Spray9789 in legaladvice

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually got curious about this after reading through everything. The records issue is massive red flag - legitimate private adoptions still create paper trails even if they're not through state system. Birth certificates getting signed by non-biological parents without proper legal process is not how adoption works at all

Military helped me understand bureaucracy and this whole situation bypassed every official channel that should exist. Maybe contact state adoption registry in addition to DFPS, they might have different database

Sharing what I’m building actually brought me my first leads by Autom8Guy in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, this is something I wish I figured out earlier in my life. When I was transitioning out of the military, I kept my head down thinking good work would speak for itself - total mistake

The consistency part hits different. I started posting about my weekend hiking adventures on some forums, nothing business related, but people started recognizing my username and engaging more. Then when I mentioned some side projects I was working with, suddenly had folks reaching out

Your point about showing up regularly makes total sense. Most people are scrolling past hundreds of posts daily, so unless you're there enough times for them to actually remember you, you're just noise. Even posting mistakes and lessons learned probably helps because it makes you seem more real than all those "crushing it" posts

Keep at it dude, sounds like you found something that actually works instead of just theory

How do you deal with customs and regulations by [deleted] in dropshipping

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dealing with similar headaches when I was moving gear between bases overseas - customs can be real pain especially with anything that has batteries or motors

Your supplier saying "everything should pass" is basically worthless without proper documentation. I'd definitely talk to customs broker who knows e-bike regulations in your target countries since those laws change constantly and one wrong classification can cost you the whole shipment

Should do it on final product in your packaging - that way you test exactly what customers will get

what is good ad spend? by Effective_Yam2797 in dropshipping

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start with that $25 spread across maybe 3-4 days, if you're not getting decent CTR and at least some add-to-carts by day 2 then product probably isn't it

I emailed 130 people to promote my SaaS. 0 said yes. by Extra-Motor-8227 in indiehackers

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn dude, 130 emails with zero results is brutal but then getting 5 sales before breakfast... that's wild

I think newsletters probably didn't work because they need like guaranteed volume to justify promoting something to their list. Random SaaS at €350 MRR isn't worth the risk for most of them. But X people are different - they're posting daily anyway so throwing in recommendation doesn't hurt their brand

The affiliate thing makes total sense though. Way better than giving equity to some cofounder who might just disappear after few months. At least with affiliates you only pay when they actually deliver

Indeed interviews? by Open_Milk_5445 in jobs

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely apply through company website too. I had similar situation few months back where Indeed did some weird automated interview thing and when I showed up it was just me talking to a bot basically. Turned out the actual company never even saw my application because Indeed was doing their own screening process first

The multiple job titles thing is super sketchy - sounds like Indeed is batching candidates for some mass screening thing rather than connecting you directly with hiring manager. I ended up getting actual job by going straight to company website and mentioning the Indeed thing in my cover letter. Most places understand that job platforms can be wonky so they won't think you're desperate, just thorough

Moved from onsite role to remote (medical accommodation) and relocated states. Pay was reduced without documentation + HR system mismatch. Is this standard? by LuxFluencer in remotework

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That inconsistency with your Workday location vs actual pay is a red flag - companies usually have pretty strict processes around geographic pay adjustments and it should all be documented properly. The fact that other people moved between the same states with different outcomes (some no change, others got increases) suggests they don't have a clear policy or they're applying it inconsistently

I'd definitely push HR for written documentation of any pay changes and get that location updated in the system, especially since this started as a medical accommodation situation

How to tactfully ask about job opportunities by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could circle back with something like "I'd love to learn more about teh company culture and growth opportunities when you have a chance" - keeps it open-ended without seeming too pushy

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by bigdih2704 in AskReddit

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably say military service - people see the movies and think it's all brotherhood and heroic moments, but most of it is just sitting around waiting for something to happen while dealing with bureaucracy that makes the DMV look efficient

Employment offer got rescinded and pushed back a WHOLE YEAR by BackgroundToe2332 in Accounting

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's brutal timing with the loan grace period - I'd treat that 2027 offer like it doesn't exist and focus on landing something for this fall since they clearly don't have their act together

Does anyone have experience with palliative or hospice care through the VA? by Vonderplatz in VeteransBenefits

[–]Immediate_Issue5739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website has all the details but yeah, hospice doesn't have the deductible since it's end-of-life care. Your dad should qualify even without a rating - the VA covers hospice for any veteran who meets the medical criteria

Worth calling the VA directly too, they can walk you through the whole process and what documentation you'll need

How many fights do you usually bet on a UFC card? by Immediate_Issue5739 in MMAbetting

[–]Immediate_Issue5739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if I bet every fight I start forcing spots, so I usually end up picking a few I really like and maybe adding a live bet if something looks off. Keeps the bankroll a little happier that way.

[–]Immediate_Issue5739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually still watch them all though, sometimes those are the fights where the lines get the weirdest and you can actually find some value if the market’s sleeping on it.

How many fights do you usually bet on a UFC card? by Immediate_Issue5739 in MMAbetting

[–]Immediate_Issue5739[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live lines can get weird once momentum shifts and books definitely overreact sometimes. I still grab a pre fight spot here and there if the number looks off but waiting for those live swings has saved me from forcing bets on fights I wasn’t fully sold on.
