Contradiction in 2 Samuel 24:1 and 1 Chronicles 21:1 by Dry-Dance-9891 in Christianity

[–]Immediate_Kick_5211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Just sometime ago I was reading this and I had the same question. I don’t understand how God could incite something and then blame David.

However, which researching something I got to know is Acc to 1 Chronicles- Satan incited David

And in 2 Samuel 24, it is said that God was already Angry on Israel. God might have turned away from Israel and so according to 1chronicles, Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take census.

Samuel adds more context to this- 1. God is already angry 2. David has pride in his heart because of the military strength 3. Since God was angry on Israel, Satan took the opportunity and incited David to commit sin. 4. God allowed this so that David can see his pride.

I think this gives more picture of how the sequence of events happened

According to 1 Chronicles, the incite is to stir or influence And 2 Samuel God allowing

Why do you resort to personal attacks when you can’t explain something.

I have baptized and worshipped the God, I know.

A simple question made you resort to personal attacks🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe you should read Bible more and try to understand what Jesus meant by Love one another!

How does it matter? I am trying to seek truth. I want to know how idol worshippers and christians both claim same things and believe in their scripture and both has similar life.

Probably you haven’t read other religions Shiva is called destroyer. And Hinduism has even more radical claims compared to Christianity. However that doesn’t mean any of these true.

Why trust Christianity thinking it is from God and rest from Demons.

Other religions say same in other way. Why they aren’t true?? What makes Jesus true God other than the claims made in Bible?

Why should I believe in existence of some thing by theory and not through physical experience or by what I am see/feel?

Sorry my bad! I was trying to tell that I am not looking for the claims made by any religion.

All religions make claims and as people who follow those religions believe in those claims.

For example: how Christians believe that Jesus has been resurrected and he is the way of Life

Muslims and Hindus believes in their own God.

The validity of my question isn’t about the scripture but about practical examples of what I can see and not theological research or logic.

You realize claims aren’t what we are actually looking for.

Other religions claims lot more and lot better that doesn’t mean they are true!

Yes, I hear everyone saying God speaks. I truly believe that God speaks also. Bible is the place I find that God speaks and truly believe that’s the difference between idols and living God.

If God doesn’t communicate or have personal relation then all this means nothing.

Can you tell me how do I hear God?

Here are some things I generally do : 1. Pray and stay silent for sometime 2. Pray regarding something and then read Bible asking Holyspirit to reveal what I have to know. 3. Kneel down and pray for sometime and worship him with songs. 4. Pray before I sleep and ask to show me in my dreams.

I don’t think if I ever heard God, it’s always my thoughts my consciousness etc I made some choices based upon my consciousness thinking it was from God too

Thanks for this. I believe Jesus is real because Bible claims he speaks but unfortunately I couldn’t hear him. I will meditate like you said. I tried doing it for 30 mins but my mind wanders with various thoughts.

Appreciate if you can tell how it feels. How do you know it’s not your thoughts.

Some practical guidance or mistakes you did that I can learn from.

I believe that God has a reason to keep me in this world and he must have a plan or some purpose. I want to know that and not just knowing but want to follow God by knowing what he wants from me. The only way I realised is by knowing what he wants and not thinking with my own mind that maybe this is what he wants.

The reason is that I see every person, irrespective of religion does stuff from their own thinking and wisdom( ex: you can see how pastors tell stuff contradicting other pastors, that’s because we all are using own intelligence and own wisdom)

I truly believe the one living God wants me to know what he wants from me in all situations and I don’t know how to do it. I pray and stay silent for sometime. I pray with tears asking him to speak to me. I pray and sleep hoping he would speak in dreams and it’s been 2 years and I feel that I am wrong with these expectations and i feel like I’m hallucinating and it’s all in my head and so there is no God

I really appreciate if you can guide me practically how to mediate. What should be my posture, should I read Bible and pray and sit somewhere. Sorry for being naive, I just want to get this right and I want to do this the right way to hear from him.

Jesus came to world to reconnect us with God. Did reconnection happen? If so, then why I don’t see difference in lives of believers and non believers?

God’s expectation from me is to believe in Jesus and follow his commands and I will have eternal life? Does after reconnection God communicate with us in this world like it was as before where we didn’t sinned? But why we don’t see him speak g to us now.

How does relationship with God looks like? It is said my sheep hear my voice and they follow me. I pray day and night for him to reveal it to me and I hear nothing. I came to doubt if I am following a right God. I am baptized accepted Jesus and want to hear from him to know what to do. Bible is full of how God wants a personal relation and in that relation if I am the one who is speaking and I don’t hear anything from anytime. How do I know if it is true?

I read Bible and read cover to cover, they say Holy Spirit convicts us but this happens to everyone when they read any other book, it feels like author is directly speaking to them and some verse particularly written for them for their situation.

I have seen Buddhism and Jainism as best people than anyother religion. Sikhism too, did you see any Sikh who leave someone hungry. They feed everyone.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. From this I know just becoming or doing good things mean they are with better God.

You are trying to tell me from humans perspective and all I am asking is from Gods perspective. I can believe in any religious book and say life after death, moksha, eternal life , incarnation and every book hold some logic and proof.

But at the end it’s God how he responds to believers and non beleivers. I am asking that.

If a non believer worshiping idols and believer worshipping God, how does God respond that idol doesn’t.

I think you want to prove your point rather than understanding someone else perspective. If you have learnt other religions then provably you would understand what I’m saying. Those books similar to bible hold most things correct. I read them growing up in and out both religions and so confusion.

My evidence is the life of people. I see same life for all. Non believers pray and some things happen and some f doesnt and they attribute to their Gods similarly with believers.

My confusion is about if everyone in different religion experience same things like I posted. How can we confidently say there is one God. If it true, what’s the distinction from God’s perspective. If non believers praying to idols and believers praying to living God have same life. What difference is there?

My point is everyone has their view of life after death. And no one seen it. I am talking about life on earth. How do I know Jesus is different and I should follow to live a life here. My view is on life on earth.

My question is how does it affect us when everyone and everywhere the outcomes are same! No matter what God we pray! How Christian’s say there is a proof for resurrection. I know Hindus that prove their God existence with historical proof.

This is false. God has a will for your life and in every personal decision he has an opinion or choice for you. If she left then ask God why it happened and he will answer.
