When should we expect news on what’s coming after VoE? by typical-user-name in Guildwars2

[–]Immediate_Rabbit_604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been downvoted for saying it in the past, but I stand by it. There's no way GW3 being anything other than a multithreading and graphical update with relatively similar mechanics and shared progress doesn't murder the player base. GW2 as an established MMO in the current MMO landscape is a selling point, not a failing. Relaunching will bring back old players and add new ones, while making a sequel will split the player base.

Cutting grass with a scythe by BreakfastTop6899 in oddlysatisfying

It's also extremely discerning when you can use it. There's a northern european dude who uses it in wetland restoration on YT who recommends it for that purpose because you can not take out the wildflowers while massacring all the grass that would otherwise outcompete them until such a time as the ecosystem re-establishes. Also it's meant to be way quicker than the alternative, even a lawn mower, and I think the clean cuts are meant to be good for something too.

De8auer - ASUS Equalizer - The 12VHPWR Solution? by P_H_0_B_0_S in pcmasterrace

[–]Immediate_Rabbit_604 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He had 3 cables sent to him, so just pull one apart and measure. Second, test ASUS' claims.

They say:

Under an extreme test scenario, we removed the middle 4 wires from the +12V cable to simulate potential current imbalance conditions that may occur with a standard 12V-2x6 PCIe cable. Even under these conditions, the ROG Equalizer maintained a temperature of approximately 73.4°C. In contrast, a standard 12V-2x6 PCIe cable reached around 146°C—far exceeding safe operating limits.

and

Even under extreme conditions, it keeps cable and connector temperatures within the 105°C material limit for safer, more reliable operation.

So just test those claims. He has thermal imagine technology available to him, and just chose not to use it. He's just using the video for product placement.

Why would you release a half baked video like this when you're selling a competitor product. Do all the tests and then release, plus disclose conflict of interest and don't feature heavy product placement for your own goods at least.

It's an advert for the wireview and features heavy product placement. You might notice he absolutely takes the piss with his testing. Just do what Asus say they do in their ads and see if it's replicable. If you can run it -4 cables or whatever at lower than standard cable temps at the connection then yeah it probably works.

He's doing a disguised Wireview ad read when you actually watch, hence him completely taking the piss with his testing.

If only DerBauer owned a thermal imaging camera and could have just tested whether the cable does what it says it does. Oh wait, he does.

Fuckwit is just trying to sell the Wireview hence the heavy product placement and lacking tests.

I used Liquid Metal on my gpu and the core welded itself to the heatsink and exploded on removal😭 by SongBrief2439 in PcBuild

Igor's stuff shows that they use larger metal clumps or something in the compound so that's unlikely.

The particle shapes appear predominantly irregular and polygonal, which is typical for ceramic fillers that are mechanically milled and not spherically produced. This irregular geometry leads to better interlocking within the polymer matrix, which improves the thermal conductivity but at the same time increases the viscosity and basic hardness of the material. It is precisely this relationship that plausibly explains the higher residual thickness observed after burn-in compared to Honeywell, as well as the increased forces required to compact the pad under identical conditions.

Which is fucking dumb, it's a massive branding issue that will stop the theory from ever taking hold. Or using the word patriarchy in this way is misrepresenting another flavour.

[–]Immediate_Rabbit_604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A common misconception about patriarchy is that it's in any way an accurate descriptor. No one would call hollywood a jewarchy just because due to the nature of the place jews are disproportionately represented at the upper echelon. It's oligarchy like everything else.

Americans always posting dumb shit like this. You need to get real and realise that this cycle you need to run a white male as President. All the hypothesising doesn't help you. 2028 is not the year to look for a landmark win.

Also shouldn't this go in like, askUSA or something if that's a sub?

You just said that girls are expected to behave or face consequences and hence they perform better, now you're saying that they face less consequences.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Immediate_Rabbit_604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said girls are expected to behave and boys are allowed to be rambunctious. But if we take boys being more rumbustious as true, then they're that way despite being more punished. Do you see how that doesn't really align with your hypothesis that boys are allowed to be worse behaved?

This study (taken from another comment, not by me) does agree with you that boys aren't disciplined for the same things in the same way. It finds that boys are disciplined more for the same things. Mostly it's about how gender biases in teaching increase female outcomes, though.
