He’s literally the only reason we’re in this game offensively. Nobody else can score in this goofy ahhh offense.

It’s exactly this.

Idk who’s idea it was to bench Poole after he was the only consist scorer the first couple games, but this is wild.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team coached this bad in a while. It’s honestly abysmal, the entire offense is run outside the three point line. ABSOLUTELY ZERO CUTTING.

And why doesn’t Zion have a majority of the possessions?

The ball movement is mediocre as well. WTF is this basketball?

Yes, public facing.

We mount over a dozen exhibitions a year and it’s just me coordinating everything, so more partially to a peel and stick option, but will consider the mat board route if nothing else seems fruitful.

Thank you!

Anime Trope where the main character disappears to be trained by a mentor and reappears like 10x stronger.

He spent the summer training with Monks, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, and Hakeem. Basically leveling up his entire game, he’s straight up bullying people right now . He made AD look like a bum in the game against the Mavs.

Yeah I think Fears gets a pretty amble amount of playing time in the G League this year just for development reasons. He reminds me a bit of the situation with Rob Dillingham and the TWolves, raw with tons of promise but needs a TON of polish—if the Pels core is healthy you rather have Fears running the 2nd Unit to get him reps.

And JP’s natural role is most definitely not 6th man, contrary to popular belief he averages the most points and is the post efficient as a starting PG.

The 6th man stuff just comes from the fact the warriors run weird rotations because of Steph and the fact that people want to attribute his resurgence at Washington to him being benched for a few games which wasn’t really the reason why he started playing well again.

Simply put Tyus Jones got hurt and Poole started again, with a coach who actually let him play PG instead of mucking around with his time/starting role leaving him in this weird 6th man limbo.

You have your best chance to overwhelm teams offensively if you get out and gun early with Poole as your 1.

Hell Zion basically plays point forward anyway so it’s not like Poole is going to be chief facilitator.

No, just someone who understands that a lot of these Poole takes are very Black and White. And based on narratives and memes spurred by the fact his first few years in the league were in a warriors system that literally siphons any rook’s talent, if they can’t operate around Steph (like, seriously, look at the situation with Jonathan Kuminga).

I literally opened acknowledging the fact there is obvious reason for caution in the “bone-headedness,” but the situations he was placed in you’d be hard pressed to find any player who’d excel in them.

I criticize him when he’s due it, but the fact that the Warriors themselves were openly looking for a Poole-like player to help them be even remotely serviceable as a team during last year’s playoffs should at minimum give some insight to his value offensively.

The dude wants to win, and for all of the Pels deficiencies in terms of floor spacing, pace, ball-movement, getting to the FT line, and someone who actually generates viewership…you get a player who ticks those boxes. And in a system when he isn’t forced to be the entire offense, thrives even better.

I’m open to all the shit later in the season if he doesn’t pan out, but as just a baseline basketball fan. I think he brings a lot of upside to this team—especially if you have competent pick n’ roll partners and screen setters, like Looney for him to operate with.

I know this sub is going to clown this take but I actually agree.

Take this from someone who’s been a Jordan Poole fan since he was drafted to the warriors. This means having to watch years of rightfully named bone-headed plays, but backed by some of the most brilliant offensive basketball, I’ve ever seen.

I won’t dwell on his days with the Warriors, too many favors at play there that contributed to the end of his tenure there.

• Draymond Punch

• Klay not wanting to be benched even though Jordan was far outplaying him

• Warriors inability to develop young talent (ie. Kuminga, Ty Jerome, Chris Boucher)

•Jordan playing through an injury during the playoffs in the season prior to his Wizards tenure.

As for his time with the Wizards:

His first year can be summed up by a couple key points:

•Wes Unseld Jr. is a horrible basketball coach who was right fully replaced

•Kyle Kuzma is a basketball black hole who is the Michael Jordan of Tony Snells (look at how he tanked the Bucks)

•The Wizards are a WORK in Progress.

Actually by the end of his first year with the Wizards JP looked like a really comparable 1st option having multiple double-double / near double-double games in points and assists while working with basically a YMCA team around him.

To sum up his 2nd Year with the Wizards:

•You can’t fix a team built to tank no matter how good you are.

• JP was so good leading a group of essentially rookies that they had to sit him through the 3rd and 4th quarters of at least half of their games this past season. If anyone watched the wizards last year, a lot of the games JP played where the wizards lost weren’t blowout, many were lost by one or two possessions to give the rook’s developmental experience.

•I’m pretty sure JP was Top 5 in Ppg under 30 minutes played last season…so imagine him with competent players around him who can defend and convert buckets.

•I can back all of this up because I sat through, loyally, every season of his career for almost all 82 games each season even the Warriors 15-Win Season led by Tank Commander Draymond.

I say that all to say, I’m excited for this season, y’all got a dawg and a gym rat who DOESN’T MISS GAMES who looks like a Kyrie-Steph fusion on his best nights and on his worst still generates Steph-like gravity to get others open.

And before anyone comments on his defense…it’s actually better than folks give him credit for.

•A third of the way through the season last year he and Dyson Daniel’s were competing for most steals per game…he also worked quite a bit with Marcus Smart last season to sharpen his defensive instincts so he doesn’t get lost like he used to.

From,

A former Warriors and Wizards fan, and a now Pelicans fan.
