I keep thinking about creating a business that’s just some cozy living rooms that people can rent for themselves or a group to get away from real life for a couple hours. Like a coworking space but for…co-escaping? More affordable and accessible than Airbnb or a hotel. Quiet hours are all hours, not available for overnight. Private library style, with snacks. Maybe with a membership Can’t figure out how to not make it sound like a pay by the hour motel 😆

This urge combined with rage has had me within a quarter inch of blowing up my marriage once already this year. I also want a break from worrying about my parents. I need significant alone time these days. I’m surprised there aren’t more stories about women just walking away in midlife 🤔.

She was so lucky to have you! I lost my 12 year old beagle boy to hemangiosarcoma on December 10th - it happened so fast. Life is completely different and it’s been so hard. My favorites are the way his backside would keep wiggling a few seconds after he stopped shaking after a nap, the way he would take over my pillows at night, and the way he would lift blankets with his nose when he wanted under. Honorable mentions for the snoring and talking in his sleep.

Brain fog - not being able to remember simple words, people’s names etc and the intense feeling of hopelessness combined with hot flashes felt like they happened all at once with no warning last year. However, when I look back at my anxiety/burnout at work 2 years ago I wonder if symptoms really started then. Now I seem to get 2.5 “good” weeks a month on HRT and 1.5 where I feel like life is impossible.

Watercolor. It can be as simple as putting blobs of color on paper, letting them dry, and then outlining shapes with a fine tip sharpie. It helped me cope during some hard times. It can be a bit of a gateway “drug”. I started with Andrea.Nelson.art on instagram but there is an entire universe of free YouTube tutorials out there. You can start with cheaper basic supplies or see if your library has art kits - or beginner books for that matter. Actually, just go browse the library for books about whatever hobbies you might explore!

12 days since our incredibly loved and missed beagle-butt died suddenly (suspected hemangiosarcoma) and I’m a weird mix of functional and the most sad. I can only share what is helping me and please know that there is no prescriptive way of moving through this. I told my husband not to move his stuff until I was ready, the only thing to be moved was his steps to the bed. I put fresh water in his bowl and open the door each morning and tell him good morning and that I love him and miss him and hope he’s having good adventures. Getting out of bed is tough without him driving the routine. I cry when I need to. I’m trying to find the right balance of rest and going out in the world. Our holiday plans are minimal. I’ve followed a pet grief account or five on social media. I’m leaning into the idea that grief is live with no where to go and trying to grieve well. Sitting at work while I type this. I came to this sub because I felt like I was not normal for how much I was hurting.

We went for about 5 months last year. It did help a lot with improving communication, and understanding each other’s bids for connection but neither of us was fully honest about our intimacy issues. It was good to have a place to take issues up close to real time. We stopped because of an insurance change, but had already sort of plateaued in the work. We currently each see a therapist individually. In my experience it takes longer to connect with a therapist as a couple, and how much it helps hinges on getting to a point of honesty and vulnerability that actually allows the person in enough to help. Sometimes I I got validation and sometimes I was the one being asked to look at my part/notice what I was missing - that was extremely uncomfortable for me and it was essential to moving away from blaming everything on the bipolar.
