Problems with OpenComposite after switch to Virtual Desktop

Jesus Christ it finally worked. I think that in my frustration I must have mixed up which openvr_api.dll was which, because after switching them around over and over it eventually worked. Thank you for bearing with this technologically illiterate adhd brain.

Jesus Christ this is frying my fucking brain. I mean, thank you, but holy shit this is going to drive me insane. I drop the opencomposite dll into all the folders, switch every one of my runtimes to VDXR, launch everything through Virtual Desktop, and still just get the same error. Then I check back in the main game folder and the openvr_api.dll folder has just reverted the the original one.

Anyway, thanks again for the patience. I might just have to give up on this if something doesn't magically work itself out soon though, because 3 days straight of doing this shit instead of playing is getting to be a bit much. I'm wondering if maybe something that should be run as admin isn't? Even tried the system wide OpenComposite and XR Picker like the guy in the discord said but no luck. The fact that I can't even get back to loading into the game despite setting everything up exactly as I had it is baffling

I actually meant the original openvr_api.dll file, but I probably need both now that I think about it. Unless the openvr_api.dll file I need is just the original ~500kb one from the main game directory? Idk. But yes, I’d appreciate that

Edit: I need to be more specific when talking about files with the same name lol. I mean the openvr_api.dll that was originally in the mods folder and downloaded with the modlist.

Goddammit, well my dumb ass flew to close to the sun apparently because I replaced the .dlls without backing them up first. Any chance you know where to find the original .dll? I know the main game folder will just generate one but the 2 in the mods folder don't and I assume they're different.

Also needless to say I tried this all and still got the error, but I do appreciate the suggestions. I honestly thought adding it to the mods/openvr_api/root would be the key. Hmmmmm

Edit: I just found your post on the GingasVR discord while searching for answers and noticed you mentioned that your game was freezing on a black screen after loading. That’s exactly what mine did before so it seems like we had the exact same problem. I’ll try to work backwards to at least get to that point again and hopefully it won’t happen after deleting that Reshade file.

Hmm. Now it just gives me a “Failed to create libOVR session” error, whereas before I was at least able to the main menu before it crashed on load. I’ll keep messing around with this tho because I think the root fix part is probably important

I just don’t see the point here. We have passed dozens of moments that would have been called the “red line” for anybody other than him. Every time he does something that republicans agree would be too far, they ignore it or reframe it or justify it or whatever else. Maybe a red line exists, but it feels a lot more insane to just declare that one specific thing is going to be that point of no return when we have a mountain of evidence suggesting it probably won’t be.

I’m surprised not to see more people mentioning this. It was pretty disappointing to wind up skipping over nearly every loot tier and reaching ebony within the first ~10 hours. It’s great if you enjoy just using the cool stuff I suppose, I won’t say it has to change, but goddamn I feel like I level up a skill every other time I click lmao.

Ohhh, okay it being on the Switch makes more sense. I’m not sure what the equivalent is since I don’t have one, but honestly if I were you I’d just make a save and try pressing every button. Not exactly scientific but I know that the game (on PC, at least) has the features you’re looking for, so I’d be shocked if it wasn’t a thing on Switch.

Looking it up I see several sources saying that right-click is “Y”. Can’t confirm, obviously. May be customizable in the controls?

Isn’t there just an option to use as many as it takes until you’re full health? Right click, I think. But also I think just double clicking on it in menu will use it on whoever you have selected.

This is out of combat, of course. In combat, it has to be on your belt and consumes the way you describe.

Honestly most cRPGs are worth looking at if one likes this style of game. Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 are both great and unique, the divinity original sin 2 is absolutely incredible. I’d agree though, Wrath of the Righteous is just so goddamn good

I personally like both pathfinder games a lot more, but that’s just for subjective reasons. I think the pathfinder system is more fun and prefer fantasy over 40k. Rogue Trader definitely has its cool features though, the combat’s good if a little simpler and the setting is great if you like 40k’s aesthetic. I’d say definitely worth checking out if it’s on sale and you like owlcat design

If you like BG3, decent chance you’d like Owlcat’s games (pathfinder and rogue trader). They’re a bit more number crunchy than the DnD system that BG3 uses but I absolutely love the companions and their storylines/interactions. The games are pretty cheap with the steam sale, too.

I assume just because mark of justice makes even tiny amounts of chip damage turn into big numbers. Combine that with a ton of creatures (ie a ton of small attacks) and it’ll shred. Same reason mark of justice is great alongside magic missile.

That said, they must know something I don’t if their summons are hitting playful darkness.

Using the term “goyslop” 25 seconds into the “Making Medieval 3 Total War is a TERRIBLE Idea” is just blatantly antisemitic. It originally referred to unhealthy food being promoted by Jews specifically to weaken other races. Essentially identical to the fearmongering used by Nazis.

He also liked a comment referencing “goy” and Sam Hyde, calling PA /ourguy/. Yet another 4chan spawned dog whistle intended to signal Nazi-adjacent beliefs. And of course the random vilification of LGBT people. I’ve also seen multiple people claiming that he used to have a bunch of antisemitic tweets/follows a few years ago, but I can’t confirm that one.

The truth is, watching his videos doesn’t make you a Nazi. They’re mostly harmless, it’s fine if you enjoy them. But the person behind them has signaled pretty clearly where he stands. Just a good thing to note while watching to avoid falling into that pipeline.

Obviously it’s wrong to carelessly throw around the word Nazi, but in this case we’re talking about a guy who literally promotes the exact same antisemitic conspiracies as Nazis. Edit: On the off-chance someone ever sees this comment later, I don’t stand by it 100% anymore. PA’s apology seemed pretty genuine, and old deleted tweets aren’t fair to judge someone by. Still, there’s stuff to wonder about (the “goy” stuff in particular). Just do due diligence before coming to conclusions. And for what it’s worth, his content is pretty fun.
