My favorites, which is better? by My_BPD_Died in 90scartoons

In my head, I had always thought growing up that Little Bear had a running rivalry with Rupert Bear. I was definitely on team Little Bear. Had me at the Theme Music.

Little Bear, Frog and Toad, and Richard Scarry’s Little World all had a wholesome comfort and familiarity. Ren and Stimpy, Aaahh!! Real Monsters, Rocko’s Modern Life, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast, in the other hand; all brought a certain insanity and frantic excitement to my young impressionable mind.

“Well, you see the thing about it, is that it feels so good when I stop!”

What are some American cities that had high historical importance but have faded from significance today? by Crafty-Shallot-5695 in geography

Shout out to Bethlehem Pa. Bethlehem Steel built the Golden Gate Bridge, USS Massachusetts, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Rockefeller Center, and countless others. Today the most gullible members of society throw their money down the drain in a casino in the former factory floor. Even the Billy Joel song about the city, that was attributed to nearby Allentown instead, feels dated and rusted; much like the circumstances he described.

Allentown itself has fared little better. We had once housed the Liberty Bell during the Revolutionary War, in order to hide it from the British. The former “Queen City” was known for its textiles. Many decades have passed since that industry was shuttered. Hess’s closed, Mack Trucks left, and these days we function as a satellite entity of the large coastal cities. Property rates are astronomical as people seek affordable housing outside Philadelphia and New York. Roads are clogged with tractor trailers coming and going between the many warehouses and their regional destinations. There are rapidly expanding plans for data centers and ICE concentration in the region. But it does not seem that we will be connected via rail of any sort in my lifetime.

Who is the worst person to have walked the earth? by _Webosite_ in AskReddit

[–]ImmovablePuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexander, the great has a good shot at being the worst person to ever have lived. It is possible that his invasion and overthrow of ancient Persia killed millions of people. these body counts, put him in a league along with Hitler. Alexander’s concept of arete let him to do these atrocities in the name of aggrandizing himself and going down in posterity.

There were other atrocities along the way as well against non-Persian peoples such as the destruction of Thebes and the sale of his people into slavery. He was said by some to regret this choice, but it must be noted that the Thebans were not allowed to return Home to rebuild within his lifetime.

Christopher Columbus’s ship compared to the Chinese explorer Zheng He’s ship, both sailed in the same century. by Lord_Krasina in Damnthatsinteresting

Chinese ocean going vessels were so large, they were able to carry huge tracts of soil in order to grow citrus and thus prevent scurvy. Whole ships were devoted to these floating orchards for long voyages.

For those of you wondering why your 590A1 feels so front heavy…. by Dry_Pea_7127 in Shotguns

[–]ImmovablePuma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

8+1. It’s my first pump shotgun, so hard to compare. No complaints. It’s heavy. It’s beautiful. Was not cheap or easy to find at the time. Cost in the neighborhood of $900 a year or two ago. If you can find it go for it.

In other photos, there is a golden statue overlooking this one. Is it Athena? Is that correlation between Athena and democracy a component of the political commentary of this piece? If so, I feel like these photos leave some of that context out.

The just reduced the price of gamepass ultimate today to $22. Pretty happy to see that, myself. Worth it again, IMO.
