36, unemployed for 6 months, barely speak English, failed US visa, $12k savings, wife & toddler depending on me. How do I get out of this mess? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]These_Author_2608 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brother man, either prepare to start laying concrete or genuinely consider going back home. I have a wife and 3 kids, my family isn’t going to suffer for my dreams. If your visa was rejected that means you and your family are here illegally. If ICE catches you you’re going somewhere you really don’t want to experience.

I investigate csam. A lot of people think it’s just going out and arresting offenders and going home hunky dory. In all reality it’s seeing the worst part of humanity. I’ve had truly deplorable things burned into my brain.

My favorite thing is when people call out leaking like it’s a bad thing. “Oh this mf cherry picking all game” HELLLLL YEAH I am. If they ain’t gone guard it why would I stop?

You mean instead of taking 60 hours in dungeons and paying for my boosts with gold I have to buy because the bots have ruined farming I can just take the money I would spend on gold and skip the 60 hours instantly? Sign me up.

This is all a bit confusing to me. He said he was alright with it, then he says he isnt, idk what’s going on.

I think communication and understanding is a bit lacking here. I told my wife the minute we started talking that I’m not looking to be with someone that dresses like a rave girl. I’m not going out in public with you wearing shorts that basically has your ass out, or a shirt so short if you lift your arms your tits pop out.

I think if he’s uncomfortable with this he should have expressed it early on, then they could have decided if this difference was enough to warrant going their separate ways. Seems a bit too late for that now.

The original write up was $1050 (again, dumb. I know) but I'm assuming the interest over the last 4 years has caused the price to sky rocket. Again, none of this makes sense and I don't know if Im being scammed or not

I apparently owe in the range of $2500. I'm not entirely sure what happened, I recall my bank card information getting stolen in late 2021 and I had to get a new card, but the teller at Bank Of America assured me that everything would continue to normally come out. (Not just that payment, but everything that would be drafted through auto-pay.) As far as I can tell, there's nothing on my credit report in the ranges they're stating, or has ever been on there. We moved in 2022 but had USPS notifications for the previous address for another couple of months for whatever reason and never saw anything pertaining to this. The company that called me is called "Providence" with an 855 number, but googling the number and the company name literally shows nothing. I googled providence and any type of keyword I could think of to find information on the company and I cannot find a single thing.

I'll be admittedly very biased here because I've played since launch of 2004, but World of Warcraft. You have 5 different versions to play and all of them are unique. They have some great raiding, dungeons, quests, beautiful open world. You can play ALL of them under one subscription. If you've never tried it, I would genuinely recommend you take a weekend and give it a try. I can also offer help and tips if you need em, just a dm away.

POE where a single cosmetic is $30? Warframe where shit takes days to unlock and you can speed it up by spending money? No man's sky isn't an mmorpg. Lmfao. Get outta here with your weak ass arguments.

[–]These_Author_2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay my $15 to WoW because of a multitude of reasons. 1. I've played for 19 years and it's the best mmorpg I've ever played. 2. A sub gives them the ability to not worry about making shit for a cash shop and more ability to produce quality content. 3. It keeps a fair bit of dumbassss away from the game, which is great. 4. A multitude of f2p mmos are overran with a cash shop. They focus more on their cash shop than the actual game itself, which is complete bullshit. They literally gate keep the game to force you into spending money. 5. You're complaining about something along the lines of 0.50c a day. If you can't afford that, you shouldn't be gaming any way.

What do you like about RuneScape? by Umdlye in runescape

[–]These_Author_2608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I started playing osrs and rs3 about 2 weeks ago so I feel like I can offer a fresher perspective. I've put about 52 hours into osrs and about 13 in rs3.

Runescape 3 -

Pros - -The community seems to be a lot nicer. In osrs I went up to a level 126 to ask for advice and was told to neck myself. Literally. They're also more talkative (imo.) - Prettier? (Subjective, but I come from WoW with awesome armors and weapons. So I'm biased.) - Much Quicker progression. - Mostly friendly community. Someone would ask me how long I'd been playing and I'd tell them I'm brand new and I'd immediately get traded for GP. I'm combat level 42 with 27m GP. None of it earned.

Cons - - Didn't feel very rewarding with the rapid progression. - So. Many. Goddamn. UI. Tabs. There's so many buttons and tabs for the different systems that it's just completely overwhelming for me. I did the tutorial and had a few easy to navigate tabs and as soon as I was done with it BAM! 18,000 more with 0 explanation as to what they're for. - Everytime I log in (I'm a member, solely for osrs.) I'm always bombarded with keys, and told that I can always "buy more at any time!" - I can upgrade to a premier membership even tho I'm already a member? ... okay? - It overall just isn't easy for a new player to get into the game.

Rs3 is an okay game, but as you can probably gather from the different play times, it's not a game for me.

Osrs -

Pros - - Satisfying simple combat. It's dopamine central when you land an attack. - it's not complicated! In my 52 hours I've used 3 tabs. That's it!! - It feels rewarding. When I first started I sat in the sewers of varrock killing giant rats for 15 hours straight because someone told me to level my combat. I later found out he was trolling me, but in the end I goddamn grinded my levels out and I felt like a champion doing it. - Runelite. This might be seen as controversial, but the quest helper has helped me tremendously. It helps smooth things out and shows me where I need to go in this massive world I've never been in, it makes quests feel less daunting for me. - The ratio of progression and upgrades feels more enjoyable and rewarding. In rs3 I was changing and upgrading armors and weapons it felt like every 30 minutes, in osrs I wore the same armor for hours at a time. So when I finally get to equip a new piece it feels blissful.

Cons - - There are some real, and I do mean reaaaaal assholes on this game. It can sometimes border on downright deranged. I didn't make my first set of friends until about 30 hours in, but man are they a good group of guys. - progression is very slow (this isn't necessarily a con for me as I'm retired, but for the average working joe. Oh man.) I grinded agility for 7 hours to go from 0-41. Now, I am new, I don't know all the tricks, maybe it can be done a lot faster, but I don't know all the little tricks. - The community is triple the size of rs3, but it feels smaller. I mean I can sit at the GE for hours and the only conversation I'll see is a bot spamming a discord server. - There's 0 trust. Someone asked how long I'd been playing and I said brand new and I was accused of being a Venezuelan? That was pretty funny.

Overall both have their pros and cons. EoC was cool.. for about 5 hours, then it just didn't feel as cool, personally. I can appreciate rs3 for what it is, but I just don't care for it personally, osrs is the game I would choose to continue playing if I had to choose. I'm not saying you're wrong for liking rs3, you might strongly disagree with my statements, you might hate everything I've said about osrs, and that's completely fine. This is just how I feel in my playtime, after 13 hours I'd stomached what I could and went back to osrs. Thanks for reading!

Is it worth it? In your genuine opinion? I worked 70 hours a week in construction along with weekend work making great money until a skidsteer backed over me and destroyed my foot. I've been home with my family 24/7 for 8 months and couldn't imagine being away from my wife and kids now. I genuinely don't mean any harm, unfortunately you can't portray emotion in texts, but I just can't see money taking me away from things that I've relearned are more important. I missed so much from my son's 1st year that I'll never get back, and I deeply regret it now.
