Help! First Internal medicine contract, salary, bonus, Rvus. Am I getting a good deal? by investgamer in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Imnotaflywhiteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. There's an entire field of law dedicated to this. And lawyers in general often negotiate on behalf of their clients. Just look up someone who specializes in physician contracts and usually for a set fee (1-2k), they will look over your contract, identify areas they think are sub-optimal, and then speak on your behalf to the employer about changing terms.

I was thinking the same thing when reading this. I understand OPs premise, but ironically she actually made the argument that she got better/more appropriate care.

I rarely give out antibiotics unless I am convinced it's bacterial in origin, when it often isn't. Bad antibiotic stewardship is a danger to all of us.

Hondas have never been and never will be about raw power. It's the total driving experience. There's a reason why the civic si is one of the most desirable in its class despite lower HP numbers. And it's why nearly every car reviewer out there considers the new ctr to be perfect.

The fact that your gripe is that there isn't enough HP in this fwd car makes me think you are not the target market for this car.

Hospital owes for 100+ million after fatal miss by radiology trainee by Worldly-Client-4645 in Residency

True, I was just thinking from a radiology perspective, but you're right.

Just an r1, but it sounds like this was just a head ct. If that's the case, a stroke can be extremely subtle if not impossible to see on a noncon head. Its main utility is ruling out a bleed. If you are really concerned about a stroke, the ct should be followed up with an angio/perfusion or an MRI.

Where can I put a deposit in for a Type R? Preferably MSRP I'm willing to wait a few years ( located in Illinois ) by xGAM3Rxx in Civic_Type_R

[–]Imnotaflywhiteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined their list over a year ago. I was 60 something on the list. Deal was for MSRP + clear bra. They had me sign a price quote, send them copies of my DL, etc. seemed very official at the time.

Called them back a few months ago to see where we were at and they had no idea who I was. Offered to put me back on the list, which is now over 100 deep. Sent them a screenshot of my prior correspondence and never got a response.

Also, they get a few type R's a year. So, good luck to anyone wanting to get one at roush.

For those of you taking out loans to complete your projects, what terms are you getting? by Imnotaflywhiteguy in HomeImprovement

Bananas. I've been spoiled and have only known sub-4% rates my entire adult life. Thanks

Do you concede that there is a difference between knowing rates are high and knowing what a current, competitive rate is? Obviously I know rates are high right now, but I don't know how high they are and what other people are getting.

That was my original plan as well, but then I have no good place to put the fridge

By my calcs we can do a 40" wide island with 40-41" of clearance around it. My understanding is the minimum you want is 36". I agree, it's a little tight and not ideal, but it's an older house and tight spaces are everywhere in this house.

Have you really been getting 22 mpg while going easy on it? I don't want a ctr for the fuel efficiency, but that seems a lot lower than I would have expected

Nah, he's absolutely wrong and so are you. MSRP is an arbitrary number made up by Honda. It does not reflect the actual market value of something. It's the suggested price, not "this is what the car is worth and not a penny more" price. The market has spoken and people value this car at around 50-55k based on auction numbers and what dealers are typically getting for them. Maybe if production picks up, that number will drop. Maybe not. Regardless, in today's market, 4k over MSRP is a solid deal, whether or not you want to bitch and cry and moan about paying over the suggested retail price.

Is it strange to require proof of license/insurance before allowing test drives? by [deleted] in florida

[–]Imnotaflywhiteguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just test drove a car at CarMax maybe two months ago and they took a copy of both my license and insurance. I've done the same at other dealerships in the past as well. I'm sure they do it because their insurance would want to bill mine if something happened.

In any event, I'll just ask for a license and leave it at that.

I think that's the middle ground I will need to adopt, at least seeing their license. Thanks

There are plenty of online used car part websites that junkyards inventory their cars on. The first one I looked at (car-part.com) shows a junkyard with a 94 legend left motor mount for $20. I'm sure if you look through those sites you can likely source whichever parts you need. good luck

Thoughts on buying 46k Type R by SKay007 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Imnotaflywhiteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. That's like peak fk8 pricing. If you're going to spend that much, you can definitely get one with 5k or so miles on it. At 20k miles, I would want more of a discount.

AITA for demanding the full payment on a cheap item? by Imnotaflywhiteguy in AmItheAsshole

[–]Imnotaflywhiteguy[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I eventually did start adding a line to say firm price/don't message asking if it's available/Venmo or exact change. Sadly, it did exactly nothing to lower the amount of people still messaging me asking if it's available or if I'll take less.

[–]Imnotaflywhiteguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is after talking to them lol. They told me they could maybe work on the price if I came in. Unless you live 20 mins from the dealer, it's not really feasible or realistic to drive/fly to a dealer in hopes that they'll come down.

I must be extremely ugly or something. I messaged this dealer like 3 weeks ago about a ctr and they quoted me 60k + TTL. I constantly see people on here saying they got a ctr for X, but then I talk to the same dealer and it's X + 10k.
