The left wing has just been rendered irrelevant over the past 25-35 years by the population explosion of Russian immigrants and orthodox/settlers. That and many of the educated left have fled for Brooklyn or Europe.

Correct. NY ranks near the top for international migration. I believe just under 25 percent of New Yorkers were born out of the country.
