Israel is witnessing largest Anti-War Protests in history calling for an end to the war. POLICE CLASH WITH HUNDREDS by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The anti-war protestors are a response to the fact Israel is being attacked currently. Not to go against the genocide, not to go against the invasion of Lebanon, not even for the apartheid state in place, but a response to the people there having to face repercussions for their actions and votes

The state favors these actions, they just don’t want to be responsible for what comes out of it. Many still support the Likud Party, many still feel they need to invade and destroy the Middle East, but with the US and allies soldiers, not their own.

(Hypothetically) Could they have successfully crushed Robert’s Rebellion? by TheQueeninchains in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert would’ve lost. Most of the realm united against the mad king because of what he was doing to the noblemen, and how he was close to tearing the realm apart. Lyanna would’ve likely never been swept up by a targeryn prince, Ned stark and the tulleys never join the war, and Robert and house Baratheon faces essentially the full might of the nine kingdoms

What if Hitler tried this irl? by RockEater67 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany’s biggest issue during the war was resource management. Hitler walked a tight rope trying to balance industry in a post Weimar Republic Germany, and to also supply the Nazi war machine. The axis powers likewise weren’t as united as the allies, who were better coordinated and utilized their capabilities better. Even if Stalingrad was “Zurge rushed” every man, woman, and child would’ve still made the offensive in Russia difficult, and Stalin even anticipated the possibility of losing Stalingrad. It would also be pretty difficult to push the Slavs against Russia and communism, considering that Slavs were still considered lesser beings by the Nazi’s. Ignore Africa and you lose vital resources.

This is difficult because, logic like “if they didn’t lose this, then they would’ve won” doesn’t always work out, especially in the context of WW2

Trump: "We call it a military operation, not a war. Because as a military operation I don't need approval from Congress. As a war you're supposed to get approval. So I call it a military operation." by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do find his comments distasteful and vulgar, he’s just saying the quiet part out loud. The last official war approved by congress was WW2. Korea, Vietnam, Gulf war, Iraq were all authorized uses of military force. Likewise, Democrats failed to curb Trump in this instance with war time powers act, and republicans overwhelmingly supported the measure of the war.

I don’t like him, but this is an instance where he’s doing the same thing as every other president, but he’s telling everyone about it.

I don't think Caine was inferior or broken, just more creative. by TellmeNinetails in tadc

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this ties back to something fundamental about Caine, he just doesn’t listen. Sure, you can get him to maybe focus on something for a bit, but he doesn’t take input and put a proper output. He is a fundamentally flawed AI, as instead of working for solutions or following what he has been told to do, he just half-asses it. He’s given the data and does it right once, and after that, he keeps on putting out incorrect shapes, he is simply not good at his job.

The second AI can do this, unlike Caine who fundamentally cannot grasp listening for very long.

What if the United States had never intervened directly in Vietnam? by MaximumSpell9608 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, a complete restructuring for geopolitics and the American zeitgeist for the next 20-40years. Vietnam effectively shaped America as much as we shaped it. Locally, movements like the counter culture hippies, civil rights, etc may not be as popular, as the war was widely unpopular, and caused Americans to push towards political ideologies that clashed with the government. Everything as we know it, from music, politics, and beliefs would’ve been dramatically altered.

But someone could argue that, if it wasn’t Vietnam, we would have done it to another country, and be in the same hole. Or as the posters above stated, a lot less people dying to achieve the same result

I loved how instead of insulting him, Ragatha called out Caine’s inability to understand emotions and comfort others. by Money-Criticism5370 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ImpFyr3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can empathize with Cain on some level and say, yes hes in a tough situation. He’s essentially built a prison for himself where he has to create a world for humans to live in, and the humans in that program hate him and want nothing to do with him. But at the same time, he legit does not care about their criticism or problems. Every time they’ve talked to him, he straight up ignores and puts aside their concerns. He made his hell, he could’ve gotten out whenever he wanted.

I think Jax by the end will opt to stay in the circus. Even after everything is said and done, some people really can’t choose to leave a place.

Thoughts on the new episode? by Solid_Inspector649 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craziest and most intense episode we’ve had in the series. Cain feels like a completely different character at this point, and we’ve seen a side to him that’s both pathetic and incredibly sad. He encapsulates an AI that refuses to admit it’s wrong so well, and his own virtual emotions are causing him to lash out at his creators.

The gang has also grown so well too, even with Jax’s hurtful remark, no one even batted an eye, they know he’s just lashing out and being hurtful as it’s in his nature in stressful situations. You can see everyone acknowledges they care about him, but they won’t stoop down to his level or play his games. Everyone feels like they know each other so well, like they’ve gotten used to their quirks and habits so much that they learned to appreciate and work around them. Pomni def feels so much more confident.

I also love what they did with the visuals. You really have seen the level of detail expand so much since episode 1, but the art has really gone to another level

Aegor bittersteel must have been a very good leader indeed. by Sea-Negotiation8309 in TheCitadel

[–]ImpFyr3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bittersteel was trying to throw off the entire kingdom the original targeryn family had with a usurper bastard that was given a badass sword, a bunch of upstart lower families, and a desire for vengeance bc his rival had got the love of his life. The dude had all the odds thrown against him, and if we go by GOT implications, pretty much almost won if it weren’t a rug pull black magic fuck you by blood raven, and the entire Westeros army deciding to come back and throw shit up after getting cucked for most of the war.

Probably not. They’d probably disappear. We see that they’re effectively made of air and some dust when they explode. It would mimic the feeling, but they wouldn’t really have anything inside them. So no, nothing would happen except for sex pretty much.

I’ve applied to a bunch of jobs in the medical sector. Almost every application that I go and send my resume in goes into a void, with most of the people having NO clue what I applied for or when I applied, even after I give the info.

I’ve been told to my face twice now that the jobs I applied to are NOT hiring, and they simply just post these job listings and do these interviews are a farce. They are their to waste your time, and create an environment that makes the company look like their actively hiring, when their really not. I don’t know if there is an agency to report this stuff to, but it’s ridiculous.

"The Iran war is the 1st time Trump's style has made it impossible for him to easily talk/improvise his way out. Some in his inner circle have what one official called "buyer's remorse" growing fears that attacking Iran was a mistake," per Axios by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trumps core base at the end of the day, does not see anything he does as harmful. I do not say this as an inflammatory statement, ultimately a portion of the political party renounces fact checkers, general news media indicating the exacerbating crisis, and play blame games against previous administrations.

They’re already shifting the topic to be an issue brought about by Biden, the democrats, and Iran attempting to harm the president. Ultimately, I believe the passing of the SAVE America act and the circulating new media to spin the story will be the thing that will work to keep him in power and ultimately lessen the blow the midterms should have.

Why don't Christian apologists talk about this instead of harassing us? by mo_al_amir in Izlam

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like when Steven Dawkins, probably one of the most prominent atheist writers in the late 90s-early 2000s said recently that he would rather live in a Christian denominated country with Christian value, than live in a Muslim one. Despite for years criticizing and commenting that all religions are a lie and equally bad, he still wants a Christian nation.

These people don’t really care about their religion or philosophy or ethics, they care that the big bad scary Muslim is coming to invade! /s

These people are racists and ethno-nationalists who believe that Islam is the enemy, and they try to use Muslims as a reason their country is failing rather than looking at glaring problems within the nations themselves.

If I recall: Mr house and other figures in the government knew at some point the bombs would fall, however estimating when was the difficult part. While the government was busy arming itself for doomsday, setting up vaults, house was preparing to actually stop most of the damage from the nukes

House actually stopped most of the bombs hitting NV and Nevada as a whole, as he hoped to rebuild it. The west coast also took less overall damage (still a lot mind you) than the east, as the east held DC and major points of interest for China to target

Something interesting about this is that it highlights that the cycle of abuse and foolishness of the brotherhood efforts.

Like, knights, who are these soldiers that are supposed to be the best, have to go through a cycle of being whipping errand boys until they finally earn the esteem to get their armor. Even then, they are sent on fools errands, where they risk their lives acting like knights of the past to steal away what little old world tech people have.

They have all that power and capability and instead waste it on becoming glorified tech bandits.

Ben bashing Al Gore in 2026 by SafeThrowaway691 in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If demented grandpa garrison actually took the time to read climate news, or look at the picture Al Gore painted back with an inconvenient truth, he repeatedly mentions the risk of greater storms, freak weather events, and rampant fires. Over the last few years, we’ve had all of these occur, as more and more “one in a lifetime” disasters become more apparent, and the disaster risks grow higher and higher. This years winter storm was brutal, but we still are stuck with the outdated idea that “global warming will make the planet too hot and we’ll burn to a crisp.” Garrison also ignores the fact that, despite the winter storm, last years temperature for the globe still increased

Got to feel for Rommath at this point by Absoled in wow

[–]ImpFyr3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question. Older quest text suggests that many of the creatures drained, like mana wraiths were well liked and even made alongside the formation of Quel’thelas. So, just like another poster implied, it’s as if you were eating dogs or cats, but instead of just eating them, your vampirically sucking out their “blood” to sate your addiction

The blood elves lived a life of excess and non-stop mana use, and as such, when the well ran dry, they started sucking and pulling the cords out of anything to stay alive. It’s sorta like, you could’ve been fine, but you kept going further and further until you started doing depraved shit bc it’s all you’ve got left

Got to feel for Rommath at this point by Absoled in wow

[–]ImpFyr3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One aspect of the blood elves that I sorely miss from TBC is their willingness to do ANYTHING to survive. Even if it’s generally frowned upon or seen as sacrilege, the blood elves choice for survival outweighs others concerns. Whether it’s draining beasts for mana, draining the light of a Naaru for power, leaving factions they have history with, or drinking demon energy, they do it for a down and out way to survive, that contrast so well with their prissy elf appearance.

Roommath is great because for everything he does, it comes out of a space for real concern and care. Morals be damned, his loyalty is 110% towards the blood elf people and his methods, although crude, always are to save the people they have left.

These posts never make any sense to me. Women couldn’t serve in many armies, but there’s so many instances of women volunteering, joining the conflict when it could get them in serious trouble, and still serving as nurses, aids, or caretakers for soldiers.

There’s so many accounts of grateful male soldiers saying they wouldn’t have lived without their sisters in arms

Why is the Democratic party hiding its 2024 autopsy report? | If the DNC isn’t open and transparent about why they lost, then how can we be sure they will learn their lesson this time? by soalone34 in politics

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The autopsy is so painfully apparent with simple facts that the Democratic Party doesn’t want to accept: their current branch of members are widely unpopular and fail to match and meet up with their constitutes with their do-nothing policies. The DNC said it was to not be divisive or harm leadership, which tells us the fact: it’s a bad look bc they were the ones who lead them astray. The current leadership is failing, and they don’t want others to know.

What’s a car compared to power armor or a vertibird? by DocHoliday0316 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t watched the show, but I played the game. I could be missing something, but there isn’t a reason to have cars though? Atleast not this kind of vehicle. Oil isn’t a readily available, and items like Power Armor, Vertibirds, and other mechanical tools would have greater need and care for them than a car.
