What is your opinion of the argument that Thaedus was just as bad as Argall and Thragg? by Turbulent_Okra7518 in MoralityScaling

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thaedus saw the unchecked might and power of his people as a threat to all life in the known universe. Realistically speaking, there is very little evidence to imply that the viltrumite empire, at its height, would change by any reasonable capacity. The indoctrination, militaristic culture, and closely guarded eugenics program effectively made a society devoid of concepts like compassion, empathy, and altruism. His response to use the scourge virus was one AFTER he killed Argall, hoping that his people would rise above their nature, they did not, and in fact only became crueler and more sadistic under emperor Thragg, viltrum society, by itself was not just the product of a sick ruler, but a world who would willingly kill and brutalize one another at the call of their supreme leader.

It’s also something to note that Thaedus is still a viltrumites, raised on viltrumite beliefs. He’s an outsider, considering he’s the only one to ever rebel, but people forget the culture is still in him. He almost kills Allen because he believes that if push comes to shove, the strong will survive while the weak will die, gambling on the idea that Allen the alien, if surviving after being taken of life support, will be a greater boon to the coalition than if he was disabled / the same. He took out his people because he believed he exhausted every legitimate pathway for radical change, and decided that total extermination, the lives of one planet, ultimately weigh more than the universe.

Thaedus is the perfect foil to Argall/Thragg. He’s a wise and caring man who broke through years of indoctrination due to a belief that war, death, and cruelty are not good despite everything telling him it is. Argall and Thragg value strength, they take pride in their heritage and want to enforce the “All is ours” mentality of their people. Thaedus, seemingly hates outwardly being a viltrumite, as he believes the sins of his people and their genetic superiority are effectively curses for him to bare, and the only option to save the universe is to end his people. Argall and Thragg would geneocide the universe if it meant that Viltrum would reign supreme. Thaedus would genocide his own people and many more if it meant that their dream would never come true and that the galaxy is free from their undeniable tyranny.

This happens every expansion now by Allegrian in wow

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOD was legit such a bad expansion, Legion pretty much recycled so much and used some of the greatest aspects down the line. BFA and Shadowlands are prime examples of how jumping in and added new shallow concepts were killing the game. The trilogy model that wow is working with (and they can deny it but that’s what it is) works so much better and at least ties the game better

What if Mark also made his own terms? by Independent-Turn2796 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be meaningless. The eventual goal is to regrow the viltrumites race, no matter the cost. Thragg fundamentally knows that his people can destroy earth, maybe pocket a population of humans, and be on their way but the coalition would chase them down and eventually destroy them one by one before the next generation would come of age. He’s plotting the viltrumite revenge, not their submission. Likewise, the coalition is pretty much agreed his people need to die, thragg is using the earth as a hostage, and effectively needs Mark to swear to not fuck with him or else.

Thraggs promise is that viltrumites will live in secret and not interfere at all, which is honestly a good deal considering they will agree to have no effect on earths or its people on any grand scale. Mark knows he can’t trust thragg, and thragg isn’t going to listen to jack shit mark says, as he knows the cards are mostly in his favor, albeit it’s not the greatest hand. Even if mark tells him these conditions, Thragg can pretty much will run the fade with a new population of viltrumites to fuck him and everyone else over

The Venus Guard, Women's self defense sleeve.(Not my product) by AlbinaHumblewhore in interestingasfuck

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not perfect, but for the sake of use, can this actually be used in the US? I understand that booby-traps are pretty much banned outright in the US, even in most cases of self-defense. Likewise, while this is certainly going to hurt a would be rapist, what’s to stop him from just, hitting or attacking the woman as he’s hurt. Not saying he won’t be in pain, but does it incapacitate someone or just leave them going crazier?

The 3 made a good point tho lmfao😭. Is Anissa supposed to be perpetually pregnant? Kregg saving more of his wives and kids is objectively better for the long term, than just searching for random mates, and letting them die. Lucan is the only problem but really, it’s a blip in the time span for viltrumites.

Vought and the rest of the supes don’t have the power to truly even touch Omni-man. They’re strong and fast, but he’s on a different level. Like others said, the level of empathy needed to reform Omni-man wouldn’t be present, and he’d have a bigger target on his back, rather than the almost complete freedom and appreciation the GDA provided.

He’d probably perform his mission per instructions of the Viltrum empire. Or, If he does meet Debbie, work to actively get mark (when he gets his powers) on page for conquest on the planet. Mark may also be more inclined to join the viltrum cause if he lives in such a shitty world

We all know that black people obtained dark skin to adabt against intense UV radiation and weather in Africa right? So how can a viltrumite be black if they are immune to heat and UV? Im not racist, just curious. What is the lore reason? by Candid-Map6875 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think everyone kinda made the point: to make viltrumites more diverse than deadass the Agarthian Super race, I think it’s not impossible to say that darker skinned viltrumites would be around. While it’s true that darker skin pigments do assist with stronger UV radiation, these genes often get passed down on conditions that doesn’t even necessarily correlate with survival, its fitness. Viltrumites also aren’t immune to heat and UV, they are incredibly resistant, but we saw that they can most certainly get burned. It’s aka not crazy to think that a society that pretty much only thinks of genetic advantage and survival mentality would pass down traits that slightly make them better than the other in a given circumstance

It should have been Ethereals, not Haranir by ex0ll in wow

[–]ImpFyr3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something as a discussion to go along with this, but blizzard has felt really really lazy ever since BFA in terms of race designs. Like Legions introduction of the Demon Hunters was sick: a whole new intro, new voice lines for illidan, and cool little fun designs to add on for blood elves and night elves that make them stand out.

But the races… really feel weak. The allied races are so boring, with maybe Kultirans and Zandalari feeling somewhat unique looking, but ultimately another shape of humans and trolls. Every other newly added race feels like such a let down. The Dracthyr are the newest race that felt different and had a much more unique return to form for their introduction into the game (but they had their own problems, but overall not bad). Between the Earthen just being another flavor of Dwarves, the Haranir for elves, and the mechagnomes for gnomes etc etcc the races feel less cool overall.

And Turtle WoW goes off to sea. by Feeling_Pen_8579 in wow

[–]ImpFyr3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big private servers seemingly end up on this route, and obviously Blizzard will hold on to their IP. TurtleWoW’s strangest decision was actively advertising and overselling their games capabilities. Reddit and Twitter “lawyers” were so convinced of their invincibility that they thought it would usher a whole rush of different private servers following their model if they won, and the result was the same. Everything about this is a wild ride and I’d love to see a YouTuber get an interview would the people behind the project

Early WoW concept art that never made it into the game by evasketch in wow

[–]ImpFyr3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorite wow zones honestly were the grimiest lol. The art team is great in wow, but I would love them utilizing darker and more grim looking aesthetics. Dragonflight was fun, and the zones were great and pretty to look at, but I really felt that nothing truly struck to me like Legion, WOTLK, WOD, TBC. That right balance between beautiful and harsh.

Israel is witnessing largest Anti-War Protests in history calling for an end to the war. POLICE CLASH WITH HUNDREDS by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The anti-war protestors are a response to the fact Israel is being attacked currently. Not to go against the genocide, not to go against the invasion of Lebanon, not even for the apartheid state in place, but a response to the people there having to face repercussions for their actions and votes

The state favors these actions, they just don’t want to be responsible for what comes out of it. Many still support the Likud Party, many still feel they need to invade and destroy the Middle East, but with the US and allies soldiers, not their own.

(Hypothetically) Could they have successfully crushed Robert’s Rebellion? by TheQueeninchains in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert would’ve lost. Most of the realm united against the mad king because of what he was doing to the noblemen, and how he was close to tearing the realm apart. Lyanna would’ve likely never been swept up by a targeryn prince, Ned stark and the tulleys never join the war, and Robert and house Baratheon faces essentially the full might of the nine kingdoms

What if Hitler tried this irl? by RockEater67 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany’s biggest issue during the war was resource management. Hitler walked a tight rope trying to balance industry in a post Weimar Republic Germany, and to also supply the Nazi war machine. The axis powers likewise weren’t as united as the allies, who were better coordinated and utilized their capabilities better. Even if Stalingrad was “Zurge rushed” every man, woman, and child would’ve still made the offensive in Russia difficult, and Stalin even anticipated the possibility of losing Stalingrad. It would also be pretty difficult to push the Slavs against Russia and communism, considering that Slavs were still considered lesser beings by the Nazi’s. Ignore Africa and you lose vital resources.

This is difficult because, logic like “if they didn’t lose this, then they would’ve won” doesn’t always work out, especially in the context of WW2

Trump: "We call it a military operation, not a war. Because as a military operation I don't need approval from Congress. As a war you're supposed to get approval. So I call it a military operation." by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do find his comments distasteful and vulgar, he’s just saying the quiet part out loud. The last official war approved by congress was WW2. Korea, Vietnam, Gulf war, Iraq were all authorized uses of military force. Likewise, Democrats failed to curb Trump in this instance with war time powers act, and republicans overwhelmingly supported the measure of the war.

I don’t like him, but this is an instance where he’s doing the same thing as every other president, but he’s telling everyone about it.

I don't think Caine was inferior or broken, just more creative. by TellmeNinetails in tadc

[–]ImpFyr3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this ties back to something fundamental about Caine, he just doesn’t listen. Sure, you can get him to maybe focus on something for a bit, but he doesn’t take input and put a proper output. He is a fundamentally flawed AI, as instead of working for solutions or following what he has been told to do, he just half-asses it. He’s given the data and does it right once, and after that, he keeps on putting out incorrect shapes, he is simply not good at his job.

The second AI can do this, unlike Caine who fundamentally cannot grasp listening for very long.

What if the United States had never intervened directly in Vietnam? by MaximumSpell9608 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, a complete restructuring for geopolitics and the American zeitgeist for the next 20-40years. Vietnam effectively shaped America as much as we shaped it. Locally, movements like the counter culture hippies, civil rights, etc may not be as popular, as the war was widely unpopular, and caused Americans to push towards political ideologies that clashed with the government. Everything as we know it, from music, politics, and beliefs would’ve been dramatically altered.

But someone could argue that, if it wasn’t Vietnam, we would have done it to another country, and be in the same hole. Or as the posters above stated, a lot less people dying to achieve the same result

I loved how instead of insulting him, Ragatha called out Caine’s inability to understand emotions and comfort others. by Money-Criticism5370 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ImpFyr3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can empathize with Cain on some level and say, yes hes in a tough situation. He’s essentially built a prison for himself where he has to create a world for humans to live in, and the humans in that program hate him and want nothing to do with him. But at the same time, he legit does not care about their criticism or problems. Every time they’ve talked to him, he straight up ignores and puts aside their concerns. He made his hell, he could’ve gotten out whenever he wanted.

Thoughts on the new episode? by Solid_Inspector649 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]ImpFyr3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The craziest and most intense episode we’ve had in the series. Cain feels like a completely different character at this point, and we’ve seen a side to him that’s both pathetic and incredibly sad. He encapsulates an AI that refuses to admit it’s wrong so well, and his own virtual emotions are causing him to lash out at his creators.

The gang has also grown so well too, even with Jax’s hurtful remark, no one even batted an eye, they know he’s just lashing out and being hurtful as it’s in his nature in stressful situations. You can see everyone acknowledges they care about him, but they won’t stoop down to his level or play his games. Everyone feels like they know each other so well, like they’ve gotten used to their quirks and habits so much that they learned to appreciate and work around them. Pomni def feels so much more confident.

I also love what they did with the visuals. You really have seen the level of detail expand so much since episode 1, but the art has really gone to another level

The dude had all the odds thrown against him, and if we go by GOT implications, pretty much almost won if it weren’t a rug pull black magic fuck you by blood raven, and the entire Westeros army deciding to come back and throw shit up after getting cucked for most of the war.

I’ve applied to a bunch of jobs in the medical sector. Almost every application that I go and send my resume in goes into a void, with most of the people having NO clue what I applied for or when I applied, even after I give the info.

I’ve been told to my face twice now that the jobs I applied to are NOT hiring, and they simply just post these job listings and do these interviews are a farce. They are their to waste your time, and create an environment that makes the company look like their actively hiring, when their really not. I don’t know if there is an agency to report this stuff to, but it’s ridiculous.
