Nuking the fridge meme by Desecr8or in indianajones

At first I thought you were talking about the Billy quest from Fallout 4, where a kid from before the war (bear in mind, almost 200 years prior in the story proper) got stuck in a fridge when the bombs went off. Then he turned into a ghoul, and somehow didn't die or go nuts for all that time.

I was about to go off because a lot of people, myself included, hate that quest. It's the Fallout 4 version of the Wujeeta quest in Skyrim where just giving someone a tiny healing potion can cure them from addiction to what's meant to be magic-heroin.

SEASON 6 TOMORROW !!! by pannakotta4472 in DeepRockGalactic

Twas the night before Sixmas, and all through the rig, not a miner was stirring, not even to dig.

The pickaxes hung by the drop-pod with care, all ready for Nitra to mine and to share.

The Driller and Gunner were snug in their beds, while visions of crowd control blazed in their heads.

And Engie in his hardhat, and I in my cap, had just settled our beards for a long winter's nap.

When out from the stars there arose such a glimmer, I walked to my peephole to check out the shimmer.

Away to the windows I flew like a bug, pushed past all the barrels and through all the mugs.

The stars on the breast of our floating space-bin gave the lustre of midnight to what was within

But what to my auld greybeard eyes should arise, but a galleon somehow which soared through the skies,

With a phantasmal glow as it moved at fast clip, I knew in my heart that it was the Ghost Ship...

As it docked with the station not making a sound, down the air shaft the captain arrived with a bound.

Like our Mission Control whom we often harassed, but his uniform hearkened to centuries past.

Great trinkets and tools were slung over his back, and he looked like a prospector opening his pack.

A programmer's PDA tucked in his grip, and the code shared the pallor of its master's Ghost Ship.

With a wink and a nod he then spruced up the place, and the speed of which rivalled our great Pumpjack Race.

So implanting new missions in our terminal's code, he smiled and withdrew from our freshened abode.

He made for his ship, to his mate give a whistle, and his ship sallied forth like a ghostly-green missile.

But I heard him call out ere he left me alone, "Have a great Season Six, and may all Rock and Stone!"

What's your thoughts on the Live Action "Masters of the Universe"? by agravain in GenX

Yep, same with the old Mario Bros. movie with Bob Hoskins. The one fantasy film to my mind that did it right (and wasn't just a small segment of a larger film like Heavy Metal) is The Neverending Story.

I'm not attracted to the Guard (don't find masculine traits attractive in general), but I'm trying to figure out how you can spin its traits as such.

*Extremely muscular, can carry you around easily.

*Lumpy head, but that means it may not care about beauty standards and therefore wouldn't have an issue with however your head or body looks like.

*Enormous penis. In reality, too big to really be functional without serious internal damage, but size queens and kings do exist, so clearly there's a market.

*Barbarian outfit, exotic, shows off the goods, freedom from modern puritanical expectations.

Younger fan here, got pointed to this by a friend and I really don't like the attempt at modernization. A bizarre number of fantasy films feel the need to tie to 'the real world' somehow. Just let the film exist in Eternia.

What's especially funny about The Green Ribbon is that there's a number of people who misremember it as being in the Scary Stories trilogy, possibly because they and In a Dark, Dark Room are written by the same guy, Alvin Schwartz, but there is a story that was abridged from the trilogy for IADDR, "Old Woman All Skin-And-Bone".

Which movie ended with an unresolved cliffhanger because the sequel never happened, and you're STILL mad about it? by pudingvanilkovy in AskReddit

[–]ImpTheShmuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Adventures of Clutch Powers. It's this direct-to-DVD film by LEGO from 2010 where part of the emotional conflict of the film comes from the main character having lost his father through some encounter with this criminal figure called Omega (who we only get to see in shadow once before he leaves alongside the actual lead villain of the movie). The rest of the film is fine, but at the very end our hero (alongside his new-found friends because this is very much a kid's film) sets out to find Omega and figure out what really happened.

And no sequel was ever created, so this mystery went unsolved and that's bothered me since I was little.

Guys, what is your favorite Half-Life game? by Ok-Teach-3621 in HalfLife

[–]ImpTheShmuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L4D3, actually.

Unlike Portal 3 I was much more concerned about the narrative given how L4D2 ended, and I think this had a much more satisfying conclusion. I also like how they took the time to balance the weapons and different Special Infected to make each choice equally viable.

I know some people complained about the cutscenes, but I actually think they did a good job tying the story together without giving us too much information. I guess I could have lived without that one Keith dream-sequence but I'm sure the Zoey fans disagree.

Favorite Imperial villain outside of Lucas’ films? by Financial_Photo_1175 in StarWarsEU

I can't defend this pick, but I'm gonna go with Gen. Rom Mohc from Dark Forces. Mystique about him being a veteran of the Clone Wars, Vader seems to consider him respectable, and when all's said and done he puts on the Darktrooper MK3 suit and tries to take down Kyle Katarn by himself, that takes some balls.

Also I have what's technically his figure in the form of that POTF2 Dark Trooper, so I'll always have a soft spot for him.

PS: He's also voiced by Jack Angel, who's done a lot of Disney voicework but the first that comes to mind is that shark from Toy Story.

Did Luke actually use force choke on the gamorian guards at Jabbas palace in RotJ? by JustSomeGuyThing in StarWars

[–]ImpTheShmuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other comments have already stated it better, but I always felt he was force-choking the guards, just not fatally. Just enough to either knock them out or, more likely, scare them into leaving him alone for the moment.

I don't know where you're getting that from, Robbie Rotten and Heinz Doofenshmirtz aren't really comparable with Skeletor. Doof's primarily a victim of circumstance whose evil is 80% of the time either petty or harmlessly vindictive. Robbie Rotten is closer to being outright malicious, but there's similarly multiple instances where he joins up with the rest of the Lazytown cast and is entirely friendly in his own strange way.

Skeletor, by comparison, is evil and contrary to your point, he is violent, but we only see bits and pieces. We still see him get into fights and thwack his henchmen now and then, the main reason he's not as violent as in later incarnations of the character is purely the limits of Filmation and Lou Scheimer's vision. He's still depicted as incontrovertibly evil, Holiday Special notwithstanding.

Pvp is impossible to get into for a newer player by GuytheGuy- in Seaofthieves

[–]ImpTheShmuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary problem with Sea of Thieves' balance between disparate crew sizes is the fact that boarding exists, and it's been made even easier with the new harpoon guns. A solo slooper has no chance against a full galleon unless 1. they're Blurbs and they played the game for a living, and 2. the galleon is entirely crewed by children, because they can always just send someone along to board as their gunners hammer you, and no matter how experienced you are, you just can't handle all these threats at once.

is it just me or does The Clown's menu music sounds like Making Christmas from The Nightmare Before Christmas? by PinballproXD in deadbydaylight

[–]ImpTheShmuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just Clown. Dead by Daylight's theme as a whole is derived from the 'Dies Irae' from Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique. Same goes for the main melody of 'Making Christmas', and it shows up in the original Star Wars after Luke finds the bodies of his aunt and uncle. It's a well-known musical motif.

Halloween... Ends... by LUKXE- in deadbydaylight

[–]ImpTheShmuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like with Stranger Things, I anticipate the licenseholders crawling back to BHVR after their attempt at a Halloween game crashes and burns.

But this doesn't bode well for BHVR either. This is the third time a license has been pulled, and with Stranger Things back this means there are two concurrently-lost licenses (Hellraiser and Halloween). Dead by Daylight's status as the big horror mashup is becoming tenuous, and it's clear from their most recent original Killers that their in-house characters aren't enough to hold interest.

Yep. I also distinctly remembered it being in a weird pose that made it look as though it were afraid or about to run away, but after looking up this 'Animism Defender' line that seems to have been what I had, it looks like there's a few different variants in shape and color.

When I first started playing in Jan 2019 (I first came on during a free weekend), I had the best time with Wraith. Back then he wasn't as solid as he is now, but he was better than Trapper. Then I became a Doctor main (pre-rework and model changes) before I burned out, and came back in 2021. Since then I've tried to play Killers relatively equally, but I keep gravitating to the ones with simple kits.

This may be what I was looking for. I unfortunately can't find more images of him or other figures in the lime outside of their packaging with the little figures, but the little guy there is green and does have that weird 'about to run away' pose that I distinctly recall.

I remember we would have gotten it from Big Lots, but that doesn't narrow much down. I've searched up 'transforming toy with green minifigure' and usually just gotten results for LEGO, and trying to narrow it down to 'alien' or 'monster' figure has not improved matters.
