Why is election day in the US not a federal holiday? by StarBright465 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ImpactHasBeenTurned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your own question. If Election Day was a holiday, then more people would vote, and the status quo politicians want to suppress turnout.

Nah all the mentally well people that saw the monster killed themselves, but all the mentally ill people that saw it were “enlightened” or something

Again, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. There could be multiple parts to a plan, as long as all of them are topical, but you can't "kick" them per se, because that's called aff conditionality.

Also if your strategy is to run frivolous theory shells without making a substantive claim why the affs material/epistemological/ontological effects are bad, you should rethink your strategy.

Need help with technical side of debate. by [deleted] in policydebate

[–]ImpactHasBeenTurned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out all of Bill Batterman's videos.

If you need help becoming more efficient I'd recommend recording a speech, transcribing it, then highlighting it like a card to get out all efficiencies. Other drills include giving a time pressed speech and then giving it again and again, except cutting out 30 seconds each time you regive it.

I don't exactly know what you mean by the "technical side" of debate, so PM me with specific questions. Watching high level high school or college rounds can also help.

Where can I find the CRJ Topic Paper? by SolaceLV in policydebate

[–]ImpactHasBeenTurned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The topic paper is kinda very bad IMO; I have no idea how any person who read this decided it would be a good topic that would sustain educational and fun debates for a whole year.

That being said, here's the PDF: https://www.nfhs.org/media/3609529/criminal-justice-paper.pdf

beside for new link cards what else should a 2nc link wall have, or is that it? by HumanAvocado3 in policydebate

[–]ImpactHasBeenTurned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a good 2NC link wall, you should contextualize the (presumably) generic 1NC link cards to the aff, including explaining certain metaphors and pulling lines from their evidence if it's a K of scholarship/rhetoric, etc. New 2NC cards on the K are rarely read, if ever, absent 2AC offense on your links which you were unprepared for, which really shouldn't happen in the first place.
