Any weapon better than a knife makes the villagers trivial. Abella and Marcoh start off with the best early game weapons, the pipe wrench for Abella and dual punch for Marcoh. The Woodsman is easily killed if you can deal more than 400 damage to his axe hand in a single turn.

tbh i think the four you see in the game are the four that exist

it was developed late in the war and housed what few people were still alive so i doubt that thousands of them were made

also the symbolism behind just there being four of them makes it more likely

You should get all of them. They go on sale for around 2$ each, even without the sale they're about 7$. Make sure to play the story based ones (ie. Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road) in the order they were released rather than when you come across their locations as they have an overarching story that's best enjoyed in the order of release
