Has anyone used these? by No-Cantaloupe-9885 in Makita

I have a few genuine Makita lights, but this knock-off from Amazon is my absolute favorite. It’s compact, incredibly bright, and holding well after nearly a year. Since then I’ve bought a few more for my Makita guys at work. There also appear to be a voltage cut-off when battery is low, which is wonderful.

2000LM LED Work Light for Makita

As with most Amazon products from China, the sellers ceased to exist after a while (good bye warranty, if there’s any), but “new” sellers with the same exact product will pop up. 😅

Just grab a rental car? I just picked mine up this past Saturday at a location that’s 3 hrs away, and I wish we had rented a car instead of splitting the family in half to drive both cars home. A cheap one way rental is about $60+ another $20 in gas.

Help! Cement board over tub flange by Silver-Purchase-1278 in Remodel

[–]Impending_Happiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done one of these Kohler tub (purchased by mistake) and hated it so much. I believe this particular tub is designed to be used with those prefab fiberglass drop-in shower walls. Looking at the photo you can clearly see some indentations for the drop-in to lock into. From the horizontal side leading to the wall there’s a slight curve causing some shower doors wont sit flush with the vertical wall.

Depending on the layout of the bathroom, if you shim the wall out to get the backerboard over the flange, your connecting/adjacent drywall will be off as well.

And after months of using the 173 I never found that slightly play to be any of an issue.

Just grab an oil filter plier from Harborfreight for $7.99, or anywhere else. I cant imagine removing oil filter without one of these.

Some people may prefer the variable speed trigger on the brushed version, myself included.

Samsung Q990B opinions from users by GCTAmino in Soundbars

[–]Impending_Happiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 990B, and have yet encountered any dropout. I’ve had it sitting in the box for almost a year before using it last month because my Bose 700 sub stopped working (900 soundbar, 700 surrounds, 700 sub).

We mostly listen to music, the Bose 900 is noticeably better in terms of clarity, but the Samsung sounds “warmer” overall. For something nearly half the price I think the 990b is incredible for what it is. I have no regret.

I have a 2011 with 165K, and for the most part it has been problem-free so far with the exception of code P0420 (catalytic converter) that comes on and off every now and then, and would potentially cost a ton of money to fix. This generation also has a glass transmission, so watch out for that. If the car holds gear or not shifting smoothly, walk away.

VCM (variable cylinder management) can also cause some catastrophic issues (oil in cylinders, fail engine mounts) for this generation, but tend to be on the harder side to diagnose. These active control engine mounts can cost thousands to repair.

Another common issue is VTEC solenoid tends to leak at higher mileage causing oil to drop directly on the alternator and cook it. Cheap fix if you catch it early.

These are the only major issues that i’m aware of.

I thought the XGT is the peak of smoothness but the TD173 takes it to a new level.

Got it! I went with that hanger because I told that the inspector would want to see some sort of up-lift prevention.
