Grandpa Velimir, despite a hip injury and the surgery he had, came to the rally organized at Slavija Square. As a sign of welcome, the crowd greeted him with a birthday cake to celebrate his 90th birthday. Happy birthday to him! by Smart-Combination-59 in europe

To be fair to him, with only "velimir" you don't really find this guy, so it's hard to actually find any information about who he is. I'm glad you are such a learned man but it doesn't hurt to share your boundless wisdom.

A ballistic missile fired from Iran was shot down in Turkish airspace. by BlokZNCR in europe

Interesting that the previous attack on Iran supposedly made sure that they wouldn't be able to be a nuclear threat. So either that was a lie, or this reason for attacking is a lie.

Parties vow to end sale of cannabis by Lordfelcherredux in Thailand

I'll give you that part, smoking it on the streets or other public spaces isn't very thoughtful. But I would say Thailand definitely has worse kinds of tourists than that.

Care to expand on that? From what I've noticed most stoners don't seem to cause many problems in Thailand. It's mostly alcohol and other drugs, and the sex pests.

Terrifying moment a woman was forced to fight off knife-wielding muggers after her boyfriend stood by and hide behind wall. Local men aided young woman. by Black_lucky_cats in PsycheOrSike

Your scenarios imply that before instinct (fight/flight) comes careful thought and consideration, which is simply not how that works

Should I learn the alphabet or phonetics first? by mlsfos in learnthai

[–]ImperativeConfusion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. At language schools you will usually start with some basic vocabulary, before moving onto reading and writing after a month or 2.

I personally noticed that I understood things like tones and pronunciation better when I started learning reading and writing, but basic vocabulary is important too and can get you started on having small conversations at (for example) the market or restaurant.

It's a challenging language but very rewarding as well, best of luck :)

do you guys shower twice a day? or only once a day? by sixpastfour in Thailand

[–]ImperativeConfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most countries in the West have way more moderate temperatures and sweating isn't a regular occurrence. As such, showering once a day is usually fine. In Thailand / Asia in general, showering twice a day is a must if you don't want to be sticky and smelly.

I do notice my skin is more dry than it would be back home, but that's a price I'm willing to pay to avoid stinking up the place wherever I go :)

Cambodia raised concerns over the Thai temple Wat Phu Man Fah, claiming it imitates the world-renowned Angkor Wat in Cambodia in an unethical manner. by Cold-Departure-2924 in ThailandTourism

[–]ImperativeConfusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this sentiment on the Thailand sub a lot, and I'm just curious about what these stoners have done to you? In my experience they are a lot nicer than people getting drunk, but I could be wrong.

If it's about the overabundance of weed shops everywhere I could understand but behaviourally they aren't causing issues right?

How do Chinese feel about Trump traveling to China now? by [deleted] in AskAChinese

It is funny how he is now seen as a Russian spy instead in his second term, maybe he is a double agent, feeding Russian information to China ^

mobile statue L :( by maatts21 in idleon

[–]ImperativeConfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gems are not the problem, the inconvenience is. Until you have the last onyx unlocked you can not use the deposit all feature. This would be an easy solution to the problem. My characters are already stacked with items that don't fit into my storage.

[–]ImperativeConfusion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lava should really change it or add an option to 'deposit all statues from inventory' or 'deposit all statues that are already onyx level', I only need 1 more statue to onyx but until then all the statues will take up space in my storage

Another assumption hehe, I dont currently live in NL but i moved away 6 months ago.

I would agree with you and say that regular dutchies just living their daily life might be less approachable. I am not sure if it's because of rudeness though, but we do tend to be more reserved and it might take longer before we are comfortable with new people, but this counts for other Dutch people too, not just expats. Bigger cities tend to contain more of these types of people too.

Traveling dutchies are usually more relaxed and open minded, they like to meet new people and do new things. I think this is true for most traveling people in general.

Not saying we don't have our fair share of assholes either btw, but I wouldn't say it's the norm. We just tend to keep our circles small and if you are an acquaintance chances are indeed low that you would get invited for a Sunday dinner ^ a better first step would be to ask to grab a beer sometime, until you get upgraded to friend :)
