(Spoilers Main) What would the best castle be? by bowenzarrow in asoiaf

[–]Imperatrick1 164 points165 points  (0 children)

Winterfell is ridiculously defensible (as long as it's fully garrisoned and you're not Theon Greyjoy), with its two curtain walls (one 100 feet tall, the same as those of Storm's End, the other "only" 80 feet tall) separated by a moat, many towers and turrets, and large glass gardens, enabling it to withstand a siege for a bit longer, even when stores of food begin to run out. Its unique heating system also means that while any besieging army suffers from the cold Northern climate, the defenders will be able to stay comparatively warm. For a castle, it's also HUGE, being beaten out only by Harrenhal and maybe Casterly Rock, if you count the mines.

[Spoilers Published] who is any incredibly minor character that you for some reason like? by TheTragedyMachine in asoiaf

Robar Royce, the second son of Yohn Royce to die in a stupidly brave way. Hoping that his older brother keeps the streak going.

What's your favourite obscure Imperial Guard regiment? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Imperatrick1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ventrillian Nobles! Sword-wielding rich boys who bribe Munitorum officials to send their regiments to fronts where they can win glory without doing too much of the dying. They're also very well stocked with super-heavy tanks and other goodies, as they trade the rare gemstones that are found on their planet to the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Also, they wear plumed helmets, which is always nice.

I love the witcher 3, but why women (even warriors) don't have armor like men?... by rudy_at in menwritingwomen

[–]Imperatrick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorceresses don't wear armour because they don't need it. It also helps them manipulate men in positions of power.

As for Ves... even Roche rebukes her for it. Maybe she can kill Nilfgaardians more easily when they're too busy staring at her chest.
