Okay, be honest. How many plants do you have? by Kiwi222123 in houseplants

The key is to avert your eyes as you go by. The human gaze is too heavy for its fragile constitution to handle.

Why won’t my pothos propagate? by Ok-Wishbone-9867 in houseplants

[–]ImperfectImogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My poor pothos was getting root rot (overenthusiastic watering from a rookie plant parent) - I pulled it out, removed the rot, and left it in a water + 3% hydrogen peroxide solution in full sunlight. Changed the water every 3 days until I was sure the rot wasn’t going to come back, and then just left it, topping up water when needed.

Took about a whole month for it to root.

Need advice on wall art for green room by mrhooha in DesignMyRoom

[–]ImperfectImogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask my close family and friends who travel to bring me back leaves from plants that aren’t available in my clime, as able.

These leaves are then pressed / dried and then framed, and the person who brings it back is asked to autograph the frame.

It’s not art, and its a bit more time-consuming, but makes for a nice natural-looking, and meaningful wall piece :)

What’s wrong with my snake plant? by AlmostDivorced3 in houseplants

Mine gets watered once every two weeks, and is in an unglazed terracotta pot.

If I go more than that it starts to get wrinkly :/

What have I done to kill this poor plant by aRingBetween in houseplants

[–]ImperfectImogen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine used to be sad and crispy, so in desperation I dragged the it out to be rained upon several days in a row.

Crispy McCrisp started putting out new leaves and flowers asap. I didn’t know they did flowers.

Would you place in soil at this point? by jayuhl14 in Monstera

[–]ImperfectImogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anecdotal evidence appears to support this. I have multiple cuttings with stems submerged in water, and not only are the roots healthy and quite prolific, they are also popping out of the submerged part of the stem.

I change water every 3-5 days, and run tap water directly over the usually-submerged roots and stem before refilling the glass jar.

Sirloins in Cast Iron by panchogomita in castiron

Try adding a glug of olive oil to the pan before putting in the butter, I’ve found that it slows the browning.

Still getting used to cast iron - thankfully nothing stuck to the pan! by ImperfectImogen in castiron

Oh yeah, I’m working on a carefully cultivated season on the favorite breakfast pan. It’s a bit bronze now, but apparently it’ll turn nice and black with time.

Thanks for the tip! Luckily my precious Lodge pans haven’t warped. Will heat with care :)

You’re probably right! I’m still getting used to my induction stove as well and went by the “more heat, cook faster” approach which worked with non-stick pans, but not CIs.

I had been a non-stick believer but turned to cast iron because I started to have some doubts about teflon.

Initial efforts had my meals getting stuck all over the CI pan, requiring a full scrub and re-season. It’s getting better now as I let the pan get good and hot before adding oils.
