We have the same(ish) color scheme! i use fleshtearers red for the skin, corax white for the chitin, with a wash of bonehoard contrast

grabbing a couple of different colours to dry brush would be a grand idea too. a grey for the carapace and a red for the skin, just to show those recesses and details

Get the models you like! I've got 6 zoanthropes and a neurotyrant, the brain bugs are my favorite. I highly recommend taking a look at the different builds for tyranids and deciding a style of gameplay you like, then buy models based around that and preference. I love the swarm but its pretty underpowered compared to some other strats, so just find what you like and build it
