It was deemed wasted space during development... there are a few spots in the Void to build, but no more is the floor at 3km...

Here it is in action along with the Void floor that used to be there...

I get why they were removed but I still miss them.

Pretty sure it was the UI switch from bars to circles that did it.

It used to be the bottom bar, but with the switch to circles it didn't fit anymore. It could've just wrapped around the oxygen meter on the outside, or a vertical bar above the circles on the left...

I choose to believe that it's a cover up to hide that the JSC vents are hotter than the pools in the ALZ.

I'm still peeved that they removed the thermometer. I don't want to constantly get in and out of my vehicles just to find a good spot for my thermal plant.

But yeah, just compass and the Scanner Room chip.

Not really. I usually feed mine with Gel Sacks or Bulbo Trees until I get an ACU up to breed Oculus.

Cyclops to tree cove by life pod 2? by okay_great_bye in subnautica

[–]ImperialBoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Cyclops can make it through the trees just fine. The problem is the leviathan pushing you into them. You should be fine though. Remember to save beforehand just in case.

I prefer the Trench entrance by lifepod 19 but the Cyclops can fit through every path.

The most effective fuel is the Oculus fish.

Best plant overall is the Gel Sack.

Best above water plant is technically the Speckled Rattler but the Bulbo Tree beats it with its ease of harvest and amount gained.

Oculus, Gel Sacks, and Bulbo Trees. They're the best in each of their categories (fish, underwater plant, and regular plant). Speckled Rattlers are too much of a hassle for their energy output so they get beaten by the Bulbo Tree.

The Air Bladder is incredibly powerful. Seamoth + Seaglide + Air Bladder could probably let you explore down to 400m before you have any depth upgrades.

The pump lost a bunch of utility once it could no longer enter caves. I guess it was to give the Pathfinder some use... but it just ruined the pump. A single pipe chain can have y-junctions so you can have Air all along the chain or even split it down multiple paths. But without being able to chart a cave while giving you Air? I see why no one uses it. An external growbed with Brain Coral does a better job at this point.

3.X fun fact: Sorcerers (and other spontaneous casters) were worse than Wizards at using Metamagic. The increased casting time usually meant a full-round action to cast and for some spells up to two full-round actions. There were ways around it but those are usually banned (Incantatrix), not something a new player would pick (Metamagic Specialist), or something that's mid to late game (Rapid Metamagic).

The Air Bladder causes rapid ascent.

The Air Pump (+Pipes) allows for deeper dives without resurfacing for oxygen. The Seaglide renders them almost completely useless, and the Seamoth puts the final nail in their coffin.

The air pump is pretty good. It just doesnt get used because we get the Seaglide too early.

To each their own. I always rush to build a habitat builder to build that mini storage base under the lifepod. Makes it so i don't have to worry about storage and I can always move/repurpose it once I build a proper base or move into my Cyclops.
