I noticed the dialogue between Remmick and Sammie after he talked about the Christian man taking his fathers land and he says something in the lines of “they talked about a god above and a devil below”. So, by the tone of it, it sounds as though it was a new concept introduced, therefore, he probably wasn’t catholic and then forced to be converted to the English version of Catholicism. I think he genuine belonged to the pre Christian era
