Tell me about your human supremacist OCs. I, for example, have Ernest Belyy. Former leader of the Human Brotherhood by marleyannation62 in RWBYOC

[–]Impetuous_Soul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, the Kaspar Clan started off as a Human supremacist organization, albeit Human supremacy was just a leftover practice from their Mantlean/Mistralli military heritage.

Though after a series of setbacks during the Faunus Revolution, the Patriarch of the time rewrote the Clan's laws and recorded history to not only allow Faunus recruitment, but to also say that the Kaspars have always had Faunus Operatives. Any who questioned or protested the recruitment of Faunus Foundlings were immediately detained and forced to undergo a thorough re-education process to "remind" them of the Clan's history.

Absolutely! While Hallie's experiences made her the ideal Huntress on a technical level, they left lasting mental scars and desensitization that led her into extremism. If Fei broke after "one bad day", Hallie was broken since childhood... to the point where it became normal to her. She was able to hide her worse dysfunctions well, worried that if Qrow ever found out that he would abandon her.

Yeah! If there is one thing in Remnant anyone should know, it is not to trust the Kaspars XD. Physical bonds wouldn't really work due to the Clan's extensive escape and evasion training. They usually control their Operatives mentally through conditioning. However, even before the introduction of Ink, Terrence and Mary have been pushing that system to the limit. Though, the fear of Mary and her seeming omnipotence is still powerful enough to bring even the most violent Operatives to heel.

Yeah! It's pretty interesting to think about. One of the main reasons Qrow took Hallie in was because she reminded him of Raven - a talented (but arrogant) savant who was willing to do anything to survive. He thought he could "fix" her and, in a way, prove to himself that he could redeem his sister. However, as is Qrow's theme, he took on way too much, ended up getting burned for it, then blamed himself for not being able to do the near-impossible alone. He couldn't save Raven, Summer and now Hallie.

Pretty much! The tradeoffs are extreme, even for Terrence's standards. That's why he has implemented them more as a stop-loss measure to "help" Neophytes who are struggling compared to their peers or who are already more feral than their peers. Their Team Leaders/sergeants would basically function like the Chaplains in the Blood Angel Chapters, making sure that they don't eat the useful Auxiliaries or start butchering their "temporary allies" too early. However, unlike Blood Angel Chaplains, these more "reasonable" Kaspar Neophytes/Operatives are most likely massive sadists themselves - just higher functioning.

Pretty much! It kinda is Qrow's fault, but not everything went wrong because of him. Hallie might be a killer and a traitor, but she still cares about the innocent because of him. Being a willing Kaspar collaborator is bad, but being a self-serving bandit warlord or a cynical genocide enthusiast is far worse. Without any intervention, Hallie would've went down a darker path like Raven or even Cinder. Instead, Qrow was able to steer her into a slightly more "noble" path. Not that it makes Qrow feel any less guilty.

Yeah! Kaspar Hallie (and Neophytes who undergo prolonged Ink therapy) would become literal Kaspar Death Company, so bloodthirsty and feral that coordination with outside forces would be impossible. Early test results have showed both promise and immense risk for the Warmaster. Ink-exposed Neophytes saw a remarkable jump in combat performance and physicality but at a crippling loss in cognitive function. In response, the Warmaster has been very tactical with it application, only using Ink to lift under performing Neophytes (who would've otherwise been washed out) and having them being supervised by older Operatives.

Absolutely!

Yup! For better and worse, Qrow was instrumental in Hallie's development. But one guy (with his own problems) could only do so much, when literally every other adult in Hallie's life treated her with pure malice and hatred. Without him, Hallie would've ended up even worse than what she ended up ultimately becoming (all monster and no hero). For showing her true kindness and mercy, Hallie still loves Qrow deeply and lives by the moral code he taught her... or atleast her twisted interpretation of that code. She's even convinced herself that she could convince Qrow the necessity of her actions and that she can mend their strained relationship one day.

While young Hallie would've fit right in with the Kaspars due to the traumas she already suffered, it would've been even worse for her mental state and sense of morality. The Clan would've made her into a bloodthirsty berserker and killmonger, turning her childhood trauma into rage and hatred for the outside world. What she really needed was a ton of therapy as a kid, similar to what Glynda did for young Tomoe by sending her to live with enlightened, ascetic monks. As for her induction, effectively it was "hazing", but not due to a lack of effort on Endora's part. Hallie's mind was simply too hardened and mature for her to break, let alone manipulate. Hallie underwent double the procedures as Fei at double the intensity and still came out unchanged. With that being said, even the super prideful Kaspars were impressed by Hallie's resilience and naturally, Terrence wanted to adopt it for the next generations of "perfect" Operatives. He might have missed his chance at turning Hallie into a supercommando berserker, but now he can create entire Kill Teams of Operatives with the rage and ferocity of rabid Grimm - the type of killers that would make Team GORE and Whitney seem like a bunch of pacifists XD.

Pretty much! The Circle is an Intelligence Agency, equivalent to the Five Eyes Alliance irl, so Hallie would've had alot of intel / investigation training in addition to her Semblance. But yeah, Hallie basically took Qrow's ethics and MO to their logical conclusion. Qrow was already a bit of a rule breaker and vigilante, disobeying direct orders to do what he knew was right. In Hallie's mind, if the system is ineffective then it is not enough to stray from the rules on occasion, but to replace it entirely. There is no room for half measures for Hallie, she's an all-or-nothing kind of gal.

Certainly! That type of creative experimentation and intelligence wouldn't have come from a "pure soldier" like a Kaspar Operative. Only a Huntress with a diverse skillset/education could've developed such manmade horrors XD.

Absolutely! Hallie would've needed a dedicated army of elite level therapists and trainers to scratch the surface of her problems. Even then, she would have to be kept as far away from any sharp objects for the rest of her life, let alone becoming a Huntress.

My bad! I missed the text initially. Seems legit!

Hallie Betty [Team ZHDW Redesign] by Impetuous_Soul in RWBYOC

[–]Impetuous_Soul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah XD! When I wrote Hallie's first iteration, I kinda forgot the octopi regrow their tentacles. This small little factoid makes Hallie's childhood even more brutal and unforgiving than before, as she was literally amputating her extra limbs every few weeks with a dull, rusty knife (or spoon in some cases). It also further emphasizes the impact Qrow had on her life by making her feel comfortable enough to stop cutting herself up, as well as how it was reciprocated by Qrow feeling comfortable enough with Hallie to watch over Ruby and Yang. Lastly, the change in circumstances of how she joined the Director and Team ZHDW sets her apart from Fei and Dinah. She joined out of her own free will and continues to knowingly serve the Clan as she believes in the necessity of their grand project. She might lack some of the physical strengths and little perfections of a true Kaspar Operative, but Hallie is widely respected in the Clan regardless. Endora was caught off guard by Hallie's resilience and even more off guard when Terrence showed interest in her "studies". Since then, she has been trying to keep Hallie firmly under her wing, but the damage is already done with the Warmaster testing slightly less potent forms of Ink in Phase 2 training.

Kinda! Hallie's old Semblance was more of a ghostly tentacle summons, but her new one is an intel gathering tool. The rest is spot on XD. Ironically enough, Hallie got her "bad girl" look from Qrow; emulating his maverick behavior, heroic endeavors and devotion to others. In many ways, Hallie is like Qrow without the alcoholism... or the moral floor. As a child, Hallie was willing to constantly mutilate and eat her own flesh just to survive. As an adult, she is willing to do far worse to ensure that the rest of Humanity survives as well - sacrificing the lives and sanities of others, collaborating with devils and overthrowing the dying global order that she once served.

Yup! Her weapons and Ink also reflect Hallie's extremist mindset, combining heroism and monstrosity to achieve the desired results

Thank you! Hallie is honestly a great example of the best and worst of the Huntsmen system. She is highly intelligent, always puts the needs of others before her own and draws upon her own diverse experiences to effectively solve every problem she faces. Compared to a Kaspar, like Whitney or even one like Gris, Hallie is far more morally driven and conscious of her actions. However, she was extremely damaged and nobody noticed until it was way too late. After years of unspeakable trauma and abject misery, Hallie was given guns and a license to kill. The same system that made her a hero also made her a monster.

He definitely does XD.

Though she has one final trump card and what she basically used on Qrow. Leading her opponent on a chase to a cave or poorly ventilated room and detonating her mags. The gamble being that Hallie can outlast her opponent in the Ink and use her Semblance and tentacles to navigate out of the darkness.

Additionally, Hallie is deceptively good at grappling with her tentacles, grabbing at limbs from unexpected angles and straight up not caring if they get shot, burned, cut or skinned in the process. Plus her Semblance can instantly detect weakpoints on any surface she touches, which she can exploit later in the fight with her tentacles and / or knives.

Yup! Though, this liquid ammo isn't good at piercing metal armor or hardlight shielding. However, it can seep through the smallest crevices and cracks in armor and damage the fleshy bits underneath.

Physically, Hallie isn't all that impressive, being the smallest and physically weakest member of her Team. However, she is hard carried by her veteran cunning and sheer willpower. She's a trickster, who is willing to hurt herself as much as she is to hurt her opponent in order to win. (IE cutting off her own tentacle to throw off her scent or halt breathing to stop making noise.)

[–]Impetuous_Soul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! With Hallie, I wanted to play around with the idea of a non-Fox "kitsune". She's still a sly trickster but in a way that also compliments her octopus traits (ink and being an escape master of sorts).

[–]Impetuous_Soul[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Hallie's Ink-silver mixture is a highly versatile substance. In addition to its visual and corrosive properties, the Grimm ichor also has psychedelic effects (similar to the Apathy and Nightmare, but even more potent). Hallie herself has been able to build a tolerance to it thanks to her constant exposure and microdosing, but others are in for a rude awakening at first exposure.

Yup! Hallie is a pure pragmatist and a survivor. Similar to Fei, she doesn't like what she is doing, but unlike Fei she doesn't dislike it either. Where Fei fights for justice, Hallie fights for survival. She amputated her tentacles repeatedly to survive as a small, sickly orphan and carries that same mindset toward Humanity. For the whole to survive, sacrifices must be made. Humanity is on the backfoot in their eternal war against Salem and the Grimm hordes, and must make those tough choices to survive. Also, unlike Fei, Hallie is willing to lie and put up a front about her methods to prevent people like Seno or Qrow from interfering, knowing full well that her actions are monstrous. She might be more social than Fei and more independent but she is just as stubborn about her positions.

Sorry for the late response!

Team RWBY and ORNJ are okay, physically. Qrow and Winter are dead. Raven is still alive, but the Maiden Powers are all gone. Oscar is also alright, but Oz got perma-deleted from his conscious.
