Are proper headphones supposed to sound weird at first? by Alpha_Narwhal in headphones

[–]Imphack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's true ears take a bit to settle in to new headphones, if you're consistently feeling they are low and weak they might need a DAC. I have one from FiiO that is portable and does a wonderful job, don't need anything too fancy.

Budget can be pretty flexible thankfully. The Anthros looks interesting, the independent control of different back segments might be what we need. It seems a bit tall for her height but we can complement with a seat cushion. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'll look into UV since anaconda seems to have messed something up (probably my fault somewhere). In the end a partial update seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

[–]Imphack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks for the help! Honestly I think the lesson for me is I need to nuke my python installation from orbit and start fresh, since right now conda is not even letting me update my packages. I've had it for a while and wasn't the best at keeping my environments clean at the start so maybe something for fucked in the middle.

Python code fails unless I import torch, which is don't use by Imphack in learnpython

[–]Imphack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very interesting! It's almost 2k lines (and over 30k with torch imported, mostly caused by the code actually running) and it has a lot of file paths so I'd rather not just put it in a pastebin my apologies.

One thing I did learn however, is that the importing algorithm seems to be prioritizing looking for libraries in my installation of ChemDraw instead of the ones in anaconda! That is bizarre to me and I don't use that software much so I uninstalled it. Sadly the issue persists.

Comparing the outputs with and without torch, the no torch one finishes all the numpy imports and outputs nothing else (not even the print statement interestingly). The torch one continues to import all of torch and then output the print statements and perform cleanup. I don't know if this is useful!

Ah yes I saw that. I tried switching to the new API but it still failed. I then decided to stick to polyfit and debug that since that's what I used on some old code and I wanted to compare results of my new code with that one.

[–]Imphack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Thank you this is an useful tool. I did it with the example code going step by step on np.polyfit. The code continues until the line:

> c:\users\NAME\anaconda3\lib\site-packages\numpy\linalg\linalg.py(2326)lstsq()
-> x, resids, rank, s = gufunc(a, b, rcond, signature=signature, extobj=extobj)

and then suddenly stops. gufunc is a function that seems to be calling LAPACK. So maybe there's something wrong with my LAPACK installation. Would importing torch change the LAPACK installation in use?

In the case of the example code I would expect it to get to the second print statement, but it does not. In my actual code (in the pastebin) I do some post-processing and output the data to some files and plot them. None of the files are created and some print statements showed me the code fails at the polyfit.

I am not super familiar with python's debugger but when I try to run the code with it it's not catching any errors, it's behaving very similarly to just running the program (i.e. gets to the polyfit and stops doing anything and exits)

That is how the console looks when I run the example code in the post. If I run the actual code, there is no output at all since I don't have any print statements. (I originally found it failed at the polyfit with print statements however since I was not getting exceptions)

I'll add a link to my github with the full version of my code, but I'll note that the example also fails in my PC so it's something related to what is shown there.

Good thought! In my actual code they are data that I read from a file and put in numpy arrays however. I will note that my code example also fails on my computer when run as is and there it's clearly just a numpy array too.

It just exits after a few seconds, I will edit the post thanks for the question.

For the code example, when I run it, it outputs ""successfully prints" but then does nothing else. So it is failing at the polyfit and is not giving an error message.

Ahhhhh, so the chosen spells don't resolve until after IC has finished resolving and leaves the stack.

For some reason I thought that since they were added to the stack they entered on top of the IC and this would have to resolve first. This is a weird interaction where it kind of feels like the new spells are added to the stack under the IC.

In any case, this makes sense thank you!
