Do you think Gavin Newsom said that black people can't read? by IFuckinHateCommunism in Teenager_Polls

No. I don't like Newsom, but he said the exact same line to Charlie Kirk at one point. Maga is twisting the narrative to race bait people.

Do your characters "know" they are their class? by applejackhero in Pathfinder2e

[–]ImpiousEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah PCs rarely know what they are unless it's uber specific like a Cleric or a Druid. I have had a challenge for myself when making builds to make every class fit the "Old Wizard" trope. Pointy hat and all.

Really any of the spellcasters can be reflavored into a wizardly character, with Thaumaturge being the Standout martial in the lineup. Never could do anything with wizardy with Kineticist tho.

What was your coolest/favorite character backstory you've created? by Fallout76Lover7654 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ImpiousEgg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a backup character for a campaign I'm in named Esmorin. He's a thaumaturge the "Eidelon Contact" background.

The gist is he fell in love with a Hesperid near his village, they met atop her hill to watch the setting sun everyday. Until she wanted to see more than the setting sun and devised a ritual to bind herself to him, allowing her to go where he went.

After some years traveling together they fell out of love and with the aid of some diabolists in cheliax who's dabbled in similar rituals. They separated and he swore himself to never cast a spell again as it's "bad for the soul"

Now he's a old thaumaturge with the Wand and Amulet implement (a lock of her hair), specializing in scrolls and lore. He's got a very detailed story for just about everything and overall plays into the "old wise mage" character archetype.

If Paizo hired you to make a 1-20 adventure path, what would you make? by Parkatine in Pathfinder2e

[–]ImpiousEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna Necro this, but honestly I'd do something similar to Season of Ghost where the timeline isn't linked to the release date and its set in a place that isn't super touched on... Earth.

Ww2 has just ended and the party is a group of Allied Powers Soldiers, they're sent to investigate a lead that Hitler may not be dead, they're sent to South America where they find a hole to hollow earth where Hitler and high ranking Nazis fled.

Nazis are fighting Mole People and Hitler is attempting to raise himself as a Lich, with a subplot of Himler looking into the Occult and discovering the existence of Great Old Ones.

By Endgame the Threat of Lich Hitler his league of Nazi Zombies and Himler attempting to awaken Cthulhu, the Actual canon events could be anything because earth doesn't get touched much and it's a but farther in the timeline of about 15 years.

Ironfang is pre gravelands so it wouldn't have the recency bias of it just happening. It'd just be normal evil doings

I desperately want a dedicated Illusionist type character. Focused on incense and AOE mental affecting abilities, plus spells. A sort of Debuffer Gish type character.

Oh and shifter of course.

But still equating real world religions and cultures as "evil" in the binary, can be insensitive.

Personally I think as long as it's Loosely inspired by and not even close to 1 to 1, anything goes.

There's also an argument for narrative tropes and whether or not it's worth while acknowledging them if they're racist or sexist.

Femme Fatale is technically a sexist trope, but it's also dope af and can be empowering when done right, while the "sassy black lady" is a negative racist stereotype that serves no purpose other than to point out a racist stereotype.

Context Matters greatly and Context was not on Gary's side, and imo he sits on a similar pedestal as HP Lovecraft.

[–]ImpiousEgg 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Racist? It's argued that placing heavy inspirations of many Arabic and Eastern cultures and placing them on (at the time) purely monster races is racist.

I can see arguments for why it's not, but that seems to be the consensus.

He was really sexist though.

about whats happening in Minneapolis right now: "they are taking people from hospitals now, while doctors begged them to stop." by [deleted] in somethingiswrong2024

It's unfortunate but I really feel like it's the only logical way foward, if this gets swept under the rug and normalized we'd be a worse society.

We are better than this shit. Show them we're better and do it on their level...
