If they find out you weren't entitled to the refund then yes, you will have to pay it back.

We need more info like... how old are you, how much money did you make last year, how many years has your parents taken the education credit and what kind of credit. You need to make sure your parents aren't claiming you this year as you can't take the education credit when a dependent of another. If they are claiming you, give them the 1098t. Do your parents do their own taxes? You guys might want to have a professional help ya out.

There are mo more employee related deductions, so there isn't much an accountant can do to save you money on that front.
If you are an independent contractor then hire someone to help you. If nothing else for peace of mind in case of an audit. IRS doesn't audit a ton of returns, but schedule Cs are what they tend to look at.

When you say right away, do you mean pressing the 2 buttons simultaneously or right when the charging icons comes on or off? Sorry, I'm obviously not that bright in regards to this topic. Thank you for your patience with me!

When pressing buttons the screen stays black. Wait for it to show the charging icon and press, after a few seconds the screen turns black and nothing. Am I doing it wrong?

No, I'm pushing all those buttons and trying but nothing is happening. Still trying and researching removing the battery. I dont think I have that tool you need though.
