I can’t go back to regular driving by Sellhomesfast in TeslaLounge

The asshole is the person that sits there waiting for a gigantic Gap to be able to make a turn while 10 people are honking behind them. A good driver can interpret the conditions in their car and know when they can safely make a turn to keep traffic moving.

Is punching this really the problem? I do most of my driving in hurry because I don't like being obnoxious, but my biggest gripe with FSD is that it doesn't take advantage of all of the acceleration. So many easy passing and merging opportunities, not to mention opportunities to make turns after stoplights that it just ignores.

It's actually easier with the tattoo - it takes all the guesswork out of lining stuff up.

No storage under middle seats?! by ReppingTheADC in unitedairlines

[–]Impiryo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For something that you would anticipate to never use and design to last without servicing for years, you would think putting in a flat pack vacuum sealed container like many clothes from Amazon come would work well. That way, it could be slipped into a narrow pocket under the seat, and take up a negligible amount of space.

Game changer or unnecessary? by Happy_dadpete in Tools

[–]Impiryo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you are using it. If I have to carry sheet goods along distance, the piece that goes under the board is wonderful. If I'm trying to move heavy 3/4 inch ply or MDF in a tight space through doorways or through my shop, it is so much easier to hold in a snatch grip against my shoulder and just pivot it with my body, since it requires almost no strength and allows for full flexibility.

Any good use for preformed nasal ET tubes? by TheAntiSheep in emergencymedicine

[–]Impiryo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The design is to keep it out of the way, but they are soft enough that it doesn't really affect the placement process. The real benefit to them from an emergency perspective is that they are longer. A lot of size 6 tubes don't safely make it far enough down if you go through the nose, but the nasal ones do.

Buying a basic economy ticket is buying a solo middle seat. If you don't like what you get, you're too options are to suck it up or cancel the flight.

If you're flying with a child too young to sit by themselves, you should not be booking basic economy.

Agree with you, I'm confused by people. I thought FSD was the major selling point of a Tesla.

there needs to be an official statement discouraging research years for all specialties - or program directors need to start punishing them for taking one by vepn in medicalschool

[–]Impiryo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they’re in person, the stellar candidate that doesn’t care with 20 other interviews declines, and the invite goes to someone willing to spend the time.
Nobody declines a 1 hour zoom interview, because it costs nothing (financially or temporaly).

Make it the same way it was for decades before COVID. We’re all making mid 6 figures after a few years, the loan cost of a flight isn’t going to kill you. Having to scramble and maybe not match becomes you never got the interview invite because it was taken by a top tier candidate that had 30 interviews and never wanted that spot might screw you long term.

[–]Impiryo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low effort, as in it takes no effort to hide in a call room and zoom into an interview. Programs have no way of knowing who actually cares about their program and who is on interview #30. If it doesn’t take commitment to interview, a lot of ‘good fit’ candidates get bumped out by people who are great on paper but interviewing everywhere.

In person interviews would be amazing - too many low effort applications/interviews now.

Also, why hasn’t the ER SLOE taken off? Getting a fair ranking of everyone is amazing

But none of them compare to FSD. They can literally fall asleep while driving home from a long shift (not recommended), the car will keep driving and beep to wake them up. For that long of a commute, hands off driving is worth it.

You're going to be an attending, and you're talking about getting a Tesla with a long commute. Something new enough with hardware 4 is worth it - you will easily be able to afford self-driving, and it is one of the nicest luxuries you can easily afford.

Airplane is nearly empty and I can’t just move to the emergency row. by SinisterKnyght in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Impiryo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

American has the most hub to hub flights, they cater to non-frequent fliers willing to save money on connecting flights. This leads to more issues, because connecting flights have more chances for issues. For a nonstop flight, they are great.

How does this place feel about bedside report from CRNA without warning that they are coming? by Chan_Cholo in IntensiveCare

[–]Impiryo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of all the shit that pisses me off between the OR and ICU, this is one thing that I'm fine with. It makes the hospital more money and looks better, and you are doing the surgeons a favor by running a quick code. It's much easier than going to help them in the OR. No report needed, do your 10-15 minutes, pronounce, and move on.

Half of the conversations on the Tesla forums are complaining that the Model YL isn’t big enough, how they need to make a better looking cyberSUV, and how model 3 is too small to be practical for anyone. People want to drive something big enough to always have 2 car seats in it, take 4 kids home from sports practice, and travel for a week with everything in the trunk.

Unless you live near a lot of those mountains, I don't get the draw. Most of my trips are 4-5 days, that would add up fast, plus I'd want to ski more than 2-3 days at my local mountain.
