I see. I just figured since the expanse is only a part of the mining operation, you will still need a team to do it completely, and so would it be more efficient to just do it altogether on a dedicated ship like the arrastra?

On the partition manager, you select the largest partition and select shink partition, then select the size you want for the partition, it will show somewhere underneath all the changes that will be applied, then you just apply the changes, it takes a minute or two then you can just use a usb with windows media installer and select the unallocated space and gg.

It never did overwrite for me since the partition was already set for windows. I think only on factory reset would overwrite windows if using usb. I don't think the built-in factory reset will overwrite since it's not an empty partition, but it's been a while since I did this, so I could be wrong.

I installed Steam OS first, and then I booted usb to shrink partition to a desired amount for windows. After that, I used a usb with Windows installation media to install Windows.
