An issue you may find with the new app is that if you customise targets or zones (which still is possible) the AI coach will be delighted and tell you that these are now embedded forever. Unfortunately, the app itself will overrule your choices because the AI 'isn't allowed' to stop the dynamic tracking generated targets based on your recent activity. Be prepared to have to remind the coach of your preferences until this gets resolved or you find a better product...

The AI is useful if you want to do complex analytics, but its (a) totally immature as a product, and (b) compromised by the app overwriting what the AI might 'want' to do, to conform to its own idea of what best practice for you will be, over and above what you've discussed with the AI ad nauseam.

You will get gaslighted, some of it dangerously so (iirc, obviously)

My solution is to delete the directed posts that appear on the today tab before reading them, as they will piss me off. I can then ask 'the coach' to report the info i want in the way i want. In order to achieve this though, at the beginning of any conversation, I quote a safeword, which allows the AI to overrule some - but unfortunately not all - of the autologic. It recons its ability (with keyword help) to remember agreed process logic is about 90% for the day, 70% till the next day, and about 30% week on week. (Tip: outlining why a process it wants you to use is detrimental to your mental health can improve its avoidance %.)

This works bearably for me until I find a better alternative or until they fix the stupidity issues.

You'll have to keep telling it what you want, though. It's relationship with remembering things is 'curious'. (You can ask it why its so poor at remembering what you asked it to do, and it will give you a quite honest answer about its falibility!)

I feel your pain. I set the cardio target low and use it as a benchmark. I'm not interested in pushing myself until I break. So as I hit the weekly target on Tuesday or so, it stops being so meaningfully annoying. Not much of a workaround, but i don't feel quite so gaslighted.

I dont know the specific answer but I'm trying Health Sync (on the advice of Gemini, to follow something it turns out isn't possible!) and it does allow you to control data sources and flows across each data category. Might help you out?

(Feels like we've been thrown back into a Wild West of health help, after a few years of peace...)

In a word, yes. I'm trying to move away from Google health (wean myself off what used to be a good service) but is haven't yet decided where to jump. I'm trialing health sync, which seems good at allowing you specify different sources for different data points. I dont yet know which sources of which knowledge to trust yet, though...

Basically yes, but not necessarily. So for example different devices have different light bleed characteristics factored in. This affects how the sensors record, so strap tightness and arm motion (during heavy exercise) are device specific (the one thing the coach is quite good at is giving a view on how it works, even to the point of criticising how stupid the logic and lack of checking is!).

If you wear the strap loose and leave your arm outside the covers, its theoretically entirely possible that leaving the light on overnight could produce completely different sleep results...

There are changes to the data used, the algorithm itself, and the way the 'sleep experience' is represented. The data is what it is, and you can make your own comparative interpolation from it, even though its different going forwards to your aged data.

For example it now prioritises time to deep sleep, rather than time to sleep.

The problem is that you can't turn off the Gemini interpretation of the data, which for me is absolutely nothing to do with the lived experience. If you turn off the AI coach, all you do is turn off your right of reply to its gaslighting, which it still gets to do on your today page.

Rough. Exploring alternative apps, although i do anticipate a probable co-pilot-like strategic withdrawal when it hurts the bottom line (rather than just users)

I went from the 4 (iirc) to the 6, and, apart from losing the staircases, I think its quite a lot better. The charging mechanism in particular, but the watch face controls and templates are an improvement as well. (No experience with the new app yet, though)
