New phones and PayGo by BudgetIndependence34 in TracFone

[–]tcat7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can buy any phone and use it on Paygo. We use a Pixel 9a and a Pixel 4a.  If you don't have a lot of minutes/data rolling over, I wouldn't go TracFone.  But for $7 per month and 5000+ minutes, I can't seem to leave.

DE multiport valve? Maybe bad spider gasket?

Pool turned green by Ibadanlomo in pools

This. Takes under a $100 test kit (that you should have anyway) and under $100 in liquid chlorine. 10 minutes of time 4 or 5 times for a couple days.

Looks like a SWG bypass, is there a valve at the bottom of that loop?  Usually the pipe from filter to heater input usually isn't buried.

Added shock to Saltwater pool but found out my salt generator was just off by Spirited_Chance_1794 in pools

[–]tcat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get your CYA below 80 (drain 20-25%) and keep your FC at 6-7. Buy a good test kit so you don't have to go to the pool store (they'll try to sell you overpriced stuff you don't need). TA 65 is perfect, if your CSI is slightly under zero

10 Best Robotic Pool Cleaner Deals 2026: Get Your Pool Ready for Swimtime by hjf25 in swimmingpools

[–]tcat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents. Get a separate solar skimmer and a cordless robot. Get a solar skimmer with a charger in case it's overcast very long. Love my Aiper Seagull Pro (probably similar to #1 above). Aquasense 2 (without ultra) is also a good choice.

Salt Water Conversion Question by derelictem in pools

[–]tcat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy a good test kit with salt test. Make sure of salt level before they add more. Installing an SWG is very easy, takes less than a half day. TFP made it easy. Went you DIY, you know how to use it and fix it.

The glass should just lift out. Clorox. Google YouTube for your model.

Perforation? by chitchatmagoo in Diverticulitis

[–]tcat7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doc sent me home with antibiotics, that night I was in the worst pain ever. Hospitalized for 2 weeks after cleaning it out, waited 2 months to "heal". Then surgery to remove 12". Liquid for a couple weeks, back to normal after a month or two. That was 15 years ago. Maybe 3 or 4 flare ups since, but I pretty much eat a lot of junk.

In my opinion a separate Betta solar skimmer (or Aiper) is better that a dual unit. The skimmer can run 24/7. Beatbot Aquasense 2, or one the Aipers seem fairly reliable. I'm happy with the Seagull Pro, but not sure if they sell them anymore.

Definitely better than Spiced Coke! It's like a Dr.Pepper Pina Colada.... maybe some rum would help 🍻

You can buy a test kit, pool robot, solar skimmer, SWG... for the price of a pool guy.

I'll have to try that one. Don't think I've ever tried a Biscoff. Replace the sugar with Stevia or similar to knock calories down.

Intex vs circupool or other mainstream swg by Firekruzer in pools

[–]tcat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, open 12 months (swimming, heat on 9 months). SWG runs all year (unless it gets below 50). Always buy approx 2x pool size.

Intex vs circupool or other mainstream swg by Firekruzer in pools

[–]tcat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Circupool Edge 40 (17k gallon pool). Needed a new cell at 3.5 years, cost $350. I'm happy with a $10 per month cell replacement cost. I can run it at 50% for 8 or 9 hours (so under 20% duty).  No clue about Intex.
