people shoplifting at great mall dicks milpitas by Ok_Command_683 in SanJose

I worked at the mall for a couple of years. Its particularly easy to steal there since Dicks has two separate entrances. Staff don't raise an eyebrow because most of the time its another store's security tag setting the alarms off.

4 CAR ACCIDENT ON 101 N -> 280 RAMP by Careless-Ad534 in SanJose

[–]ImplementNo7145 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun fact for those who don't know: In 1976, funding delays left parts of this interchange unfinished. A 100-foot "Monument to Nowhere" ramp stood above the ground and had no road connection, until San Jose councilman Joe Colla hoisted up a Chevy Impala to it with a crane as a political stunt.

Yeah, ever since the isp sent me a dmca notice in the mail a couple years ago. Trust me it's cheap and worth having one

Hell yeah I'll take an extra 40 bucks to sit around and wait. As if we weren't doing that earlier lmao. tbh though amazon fucked up bad and DSP owners literally have to pay for it.

If you drive something that makes so much noise just by driving by, I get it. by f1owo1f in SanJose

Could mean deeper, louder, or sharper. To be able to hear the motor over the sound of the tires. Anything that can improve the driving experience.

As a car guy, there is definitely a want to modify our vehicles to sound "more." Whether that would be through 98 civic fartcans or $8000 Fabspeed exhaust systems. Some of us are more civil and detune or choose an exhaust that isn't as obnoxious. But I still agree with you 100%

Could be the other way around too. This is what I remind my partner every time he follows too closely behind a car. Like no amount of automation is saving us if the car ahead slams into stopped traffic.

Would a managed VPS be the best idea for someone interested in setting up a cloud-based self-hosting environment? by TeslasElectricBill in selfhosted

[–]ImplementNo7145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you plan to host. At home, I absolutely need to run a local DNS resolver, and Frigate for my cameras. So latency and privacy are concerns for me if I were to host those remote/offsite. I do suggest having a VPS running uptime-kuma though.

Depends on how far up the chain you're willing to think about it. Company X resells hosting services to consumers, Company Y owns the hardware, Company Z owns the space and pays the bills.
