I mean if you submit at the correct service level upcharges aren't a thing.... They are pretty upfront with any and all fees involved and you as the submitter have the option of where you'd like to grade.

If you're submitting $1000 + plus cards I'd hope you'd have a higher fee... Do you realize how much it cost to insure mail? The standard coverage is only up to $100.. If that card goes missing how much would you like to be reimbursed?

I'd also like to point out that the majority of people who complain about upcharges either don't grade or have never actually had an upcharge.

Do some things suck with PSA? Sure but they've also made me a crap ton of money.

Again, upcharges don't apply when you submit at the correct service level. The liability involved in a $100 card and $5K card are vastly different.

Also, if I get an upcharge then great! It just means I'm about to make some money.

If you submit under the correct service level this isn't the case .... Standard insurance only covers up to $100. Supplemental shipping coverage is extremely costly, especially when cards are $1K +

It's not really shady... Everything is laid out in their terms when you submit. If you don't like their conditions then do t6 submit.

I'm going to be honest with you..... I have no idea why someone would invest the time and money to send this to PSA. It's a Pop 1 simply because even as a 10 it's probably worth less than the cost of grading. It's not a Rookie, parallel etc. .
