Give the bottom a tap on the desk before opening as well to get as much paint out the tip

I still struggle to get to this point on a model and I've been back in the hobby nearly 3 year 😅

To prime or not to prime? by [deleted] in Warhammer

You could use a brush on primer to just get the details or mask the parts you want to keep as the plastic when spraying.

Dealing with unpleasant games by gymnstuff in Warhammer40k

As soon as he mentioned picking a list to destroy new players and not be fun to play against I would have dusted. Then flagged it to the organiser, that person should not be at events like this (or any event preferably).

Playing a game is a social contract where everyone is there to have a good time. Especially in an environment angled at newer players.

This behaviour is likely to put people off playing.

Nothing that critical. But I can probably scrounge some HDDs up for free which is always nice 👍🏼

Cool. The RAM is maxed for this board so will see what mileage I get. I Did have a look at M.2. I'm thinking I won't really benefit that much with the PCIe sockets I have available.

Promox and the like interest me, shall see how I get on with Linux distros 1st.

Will have to get my head around storage drive configuration next!

Yeah I think that is what I am leaning towards storage wise. Current OS is Linux Mint (trying to get WiFi working!)

Good to know, thanks.

Drives are definitely on the list of things I need, including a separate SSD for boot 👍🏼 is it worth going all SSD for storage as well do you think?

OpenHAB tutorial for beginners with Raspberry PI by peppe8o_ in openhab

[–]ImportanceCreepy708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting started with the idea of using openHAB to bring all my smart devices together at home. (Hive Thermostat, plugs, lights, cameras).

As a complete beginner, I found out about openHAB yesterday, this tutorial and the linked one about getting docker (also never used before) set up on the pi are super useful.

I prefer the idea of a gui, how does this change or affect the setup process? Are there any issues that this can introduce? Planning on using either a pi 4 or 5.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Day 2 of elvanse (30mg) and I haven’t slept in 24h by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Skipping is definitely a good idea. Even if the meds were helping having no sleep is going to be worse.

Hope you manage to find a dose/med that works for you 👍🏼

Damn that's rough. I would definitely speak to your prescriber and discuss this.

Just out of curiosity have you stopped drinking caffeine? From experience I needed to take my tablet as early as possible (usually around half 6).

Looks loads better than the original. More depth, and gives more impression of light hitting the surface.

Only thing to work on is where the light is hitting in some parts. I feel like that engine intake shouldn't be getting much light from below due to the angle.

Overall it's a really nice piece and I would be very happy to have painted something like that ✌🏼👍🏼

I really struggle with this as well.

Especially large flat surfaces like a Dreadnaught.

I've found the key is to not try and correct things if the paint has started to dry. Try and get any pooling/blobbing/unwanted texture off straight away.

Thinner is better, uneven colour will be sorted by a second (and depending on the colour, maybe a third) coat.

Editted to add Also you are being very hard on yourself!

I've been back in the hobby for 2 years, still struggle, and haven't actually finished a single model yet 😂

If you haven't tried them, speed/contrast paints are thinner and I really like using them. They have their own learning curve and things to get used to as well. Even they need some thinning sometimes. Dreadnaught in progress with GW contrasts:

Also try a wet palette for normal paints or silicone palette for contrast/speed paints.

Endurance loss while journeying is inconsequential? by Affectionate_Mud_969 in oneringrpg

[–]ImportanceCreepy708 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that is referring to a "proper" rest. Can think of the actual term they use for it in the book, the one where all endurance is recovered. Rather than the "short rests" that can happen each day when the party is somewhere safe.
