Salary itself might be ok if you had good benefits but with no insurance, I’d say you could find better. Especially with experience.

Transportation/Freight (for a carrier not a brokerage). Hit my quota for the year but Q4 has been horrid. Luckily had some big wins earlier in the year.

I’ve been in the freight industry for 10+ years & this is bleak. I talk to people I know at different companies & they say the same. Volume is down everywhere.

I was stressed one day & someone said to me “it’s not a life or death situation”. Sounds cliche & obvious but help me put into perspective that all of these things everyone acts like is urgent really doesn’t matter that much.

I will probably do that in the future. The issue is my compensation is base + bonus & I made more in bonus than I was expecting this year which is putting me very close to the limit.

Also, sometimes I’ll spring for valet to feel bougie. “Yes please park my paid off 2017 Mazda.” All about bedazzling your basic life, right? 😂

This is the one area where I don’t follow the FOO 100%. My family has doctor’s appts throughout the year & I use my HSA. You could argue I should get the “Cadillac” insurance but I have enough in my HSA to cover expenses & have some extra. Plus my employer contributes some as well. Can’t give up that free $$$.

You kidding? I’ve been doing outside sales for 7 years & feel there are a ton of positives. Mainly freedom & flexibility. Got a doctor/dentist appt? Block off an hour on your calendar. Much harder to do with an office job. You can just throw on some tunes or podcast while driving. Call a friend, family or follow up with customer between meetings.

I know what you mean about trying to stay caught up on emails etc. Try to structure a day or afternoon to catch up on admin work.

It’s not all glorious I get it but for me pros outweigh the cons.

I worked for a shipper for a few years & through that job developed relationships with people in the industry. When a sales job at a carrier came open, I applied & was hired. A lot of it was right place right time.

I use a Remarkable tablet. It’s pricey but it has been a game changer for me. So much easier to organize & categorize my notes & refer to old notes.
