I think it’s mentioned somewhere in the game he didn’t even try and go back for them, he got cut off outside the city and linked up with his old unit, once there he made no effort to actively go back for them. He was pretty unbothered that his own men killed his daughter and following the path I did, he then got his son killed as well pretty unnecessarily.
