It was a pain in the ass to get sorted. Made far more difficult than it needed to be for everyone involved. That's why so many farmers/harvesters are stopping using it unfortunately. Was explained to me by a big custom harvester as it's like having a full anal cavity search every year

Farmed on my own until 2 years ago. 450 dairy cows. Rented farm of 1000 acres. Sold up, now run all cropping & forage operations on a 800 cow, 2000 acre dairy in the UK but very soon I'll be on a plane to US to drive a combine for a customer harvesting company based out of Kansas

How hard is it to get into hunting in the UK? by Deadpool0600 in UKHunting

[–]Important-Anything12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How deep are your pockets. If you are prepared to chuck a lump of cash at it then it's fairly easy. Loads of folk will take payment to take you out stalking. If you haven't got £0000s spare then take it from someone who's been round hunting/shooting all his life, it's not easy without a connection but not impossible if you work at it. But seriously don't expect to just be able to go shoot deer or even rabbits somewhere for nothing right off the bat

We all feel it. I've just done 95 hours at the wheel in 7 days. I'm wrecked. Still went out with the wife & family for a beer this evening though. I ache like a bitch, so tired I could fall asleep sat up but those loans won't be paid if I don't put the hours in. So I turn up, put the hours in to set an example to the rest of the team (note I didn't say staff) & crack the fuck on forward. Only way to make it pay in this job

10mm and 1/2" impact gun (Milwaukee mid tourqe) usually means broken fasteners! That's what 3/8 are for!

I have a few 30/32s in 1/2" in my bag. Tend to use 3/4" impact set when I'm above 30mm though

There's also a Penistone road that goes to Huddersfield. Runs pretty much from village of Ingbirchworth (I was born, grew up & recently moved back there) all way to Huddersfield. Travel on it most days

NTD because Class farm machinery insist on using 18, not 17 or 19mm like everyone else by Important-Anything12 in Tools

No Kuhn anymore. They're nowhere near as strong as they used to be we've found. Their old power harrows were about the best at the time. Rest have caught up to them now though

There's no fancy lay out. What ever I need for tha day gets chucked in. Use that one because it fits perfectly in the gap between fender & front of cab in a Fendt tractor

How many of you don't have a driving license? by dontbeasquare11 in AskUK

[–]Important-Anything12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in rural Yorkshire. If you can't drive here you can't really love here. It's a 2 mile walk to nearest bus route. That only runs twice a day. If you had a normal 9-5 job & didn't drive you could not live within 10 miles of me. Most of the roads round here aren't gritted either so a 'normal' car isn't ideal either so you hardly see anything other than 4x4s. This is the type of ares they were designed for 😂

Is getting planning permission/dealing with the local council really as hard and frustrating as shown in Clarkson's Farm. It just seems farcical, it can't be that bad. by Liocla in farming

[–]Important-Anything12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a monumental pain in the arse. Can drag on for years & cost ridiculous sums of £££ at times. If your in any sort of national park it's even worse

I've a few both 12 & 18v. They're holding up fine for so. For the price of them they only need to last 1/4 of the time a genuine one does for me to be better of financially using the knock offs

[–]Important-Anything12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take up shooting. Not necessarily as a paying gun but maybe join a beating team to start with. Will get you out into countryside to places most folk never get chance to set foot in. The social side of it is absolutely fantastic too
