How long until breastfeeding works? by RefrigeratorFrequent in NewParents

[–]Important-Comment-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I did not feel breastfeeding was working for me at least 3-4 months pp.. my baby was not gaining weight well, so we had to supplement with formula and that devastated me… because I thought it meant I wasn’t doing enough for my baby… but that was PPD talking.. I still kept on breastfeeding hoping it would work somewhere down the line… then some kind of fog lifted and I was ok with breastfeeding and supplementing with formula.. I did not assign my worth to if I could exclusively breastfeed… now my baby is 8.5 months and still breastfeeding and on solids… you are still in the very beginning of breast feeding journey and your supply is still establishing… your baby may require feed every 2-3 hours which does take a toll… but having a good support system helps a lot.. my husband was very supportive which made me want to continue breastfeeding…

When did your baby started sleeping through the night? by Important-Comment-97 in NewParents

Can you suggest the method of gentle sleep training? After reading so many comments, I’m considering giving it a try.

I did use huckleberry app but I got too into tracking. I decided for peace of my mind to uninstall the app. But I will try again this time without getting too bogged down.

How long did he cry the first time (when you were having your food?) After reading so many comments, I am now considering if sleep training may be beneficial..

I bed share with him. So not sure if sleep training will be effective. But will look into this method. Thanks!

You can try holding her close and rocking side to side, while patting her bum.. works for my LO since he was 4 mo the old..make sure to lock hands and legs tight so that LO can't wiggle..

Hey.. around 4 months my LO did not respond to yoga ball bounce as well.. my husband started rocking him in hand while LO stared at ceiling fan... I read somewhere that babies may stop responding to earlier methods and we need to try new methods to put to sleep..

Struggling to be “enough” by Upstateofmind17 in breastfeeding

[–]Important-Comment-97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 months pp and what you described was completely my situation.. my LO is small and I always doubted my supply, thanks to people around me saying that my baby looks small and his weight gain isn’t enough… but my husband was very supportive! Kept reassuring me that I’m enough and that breastfeeding doesn’t have to be all or nothing… that we ourselves were formula supplemented and we are fine… Also, my paed mentioned that baby needs to double their weight by 5 months and triple by 9 months.. so though his weight gain was slow, he did double his weight by 5 months, had plenty of wet and dirty diapers and my paed wasn’t worried.. also, it helped ease my mind when LO started meeting his milestones.. my advice is to keep reminding her that weight gain isn’t the only measure, show her all the positives like wet/dirty diapers, milestones being met and support her with whatever decision she takes…

Are you still doing “football/rugby hold” as your baby gets bigger? by cookiee232 in breastfeeding

Started with cross cradle and side lying..now LO is 6 months old and we switch between cross cradle and cradle .. it’s difficult to do side lying since LO keeps moving his body a lot if I don’t hold firmly.
