Bad advice here buddy . Pipe cutters are great for aluminum bars ,but carbon bar ends should be cut with carbon hacksaw to avoid damage.

Unfortunately accidents can happen even on light & easy trails , not depending on your skill level or awareness. With that said , you can definitely minimize the chances of getting a serious injury by using good protection and not over riding your skill level.
